Bruce sat down with @psychedelicalpha to talk about the “fourth path” of psychedelic research: using altered states to catalyze breakthroughs in science, technology, design, and leadership. He shares the full arc of his own story, from 25 ayahuasca sessions to the Hot Spring Hypothesis, why he decided to go public about the role psychedelics played in his science, and where MINDS is headed as we build the research infrastructure for this work. He also puts it plainly: “We’re leaving all this genius on the table. And it isn’t necessarily that psychedelics are the only tools we can use to unlock it, but it’s the broader focus on cultivating and nurturing that next generation coming up who carry these capacities.” Worth the read. Belatedly posting my profile (my first ever profile!) of @brucedamer , the computer scientist, psychonaut and astrobiologist who hallucinated the origin of life. During an ayahuasca trip, Damer *became* the first protocell and remarkably his visionary insights led to an actual scientific breakthrough and a paradigm shift in the origin of life research field. Psychedelics, he told me, shape the lens of the mind. ‘Suddenly new things come into view.’ For the very beautiful print version of @nautilusmag — link in bio!

Image: Researcher Bruce Damer translated his psychedelic-inspired visions into these sketches of how life could have originated and evolved in terrestrial hot springs; to the right, a protocell in the process of budding. @matthabusby profiled Damer for Nautilus. " Bruce Damer had the audience under his Gandalf spell. He was giving a keynote speech in a grand hall at Breaking Convention, a psychedelic-consciousness conference in Exeter, England, in April 2025. Tall and slender, very much bearded, and sporting two large gold hoop earrings, one on either side, Damer looked exactly like you would expect a sexagenarian psychedelic professor to look. A boyishly enthusiastic speaker, he said a psychedelic trip had transported him through time to face a deep trauma. Full story at link in bio.

Hey all, im in Denver with Center for MINDS at Psychedelic Science 2025. Did you know that psychedelics as catalysts for creative problem solving were actively studied until criminalization shut it all down in the mid 1960s? In the 2020s “Psychedelics and the Science of Insight” as a field is returning with a next generation of studies and preliminary protocol designs and group practices. Join creativity & microdosing pioneer James Fadiman and yours truly (Center for MINDS President) Bruce Damer to explore this promising new “fourth path”for psychedelic science and practice in science, tech, design and leadership. Here’s the MAPS blurb… It’s all happening on the Doblin Stage on Wednesday June 18th 5:30-6pm at #PS2025, the largest psychedelic conference of its kind! Join MAPS from June 16-20 for Psychedelic Science 2025 at the Colorado Convention Center in Denver, Colorado. Featuring educational stages, an immersive expo hall, workshops, and community— you do not want to miss the integration! Visit psychedelicscience.org for more information and to make your plans to attend. Use referral code SPEAKER15 at checkout, for 15% off your registration! Link here… https://lnkd.in/gySuN87q

Guess who is opening this Thursday’s conference — our friends, mentors and generous partners @brucedamer and @philomateo — the brilliant minds behind — well — @centerforminds Their new research and studies on psychedelics for creative problem solving are already legendary mile stones. Join us to learn and get inspired. We are so honoured to have them! They are on at 9:15 AM PST. We couldn’t imagine a better way to start the day then with conversations as such. Link in bio to tickets and also to our podcast where you find an elaborate conversation with Dr Damer and Matt Gillespie 💡 #innovation #creativity #innovatingthefuture #innovatingscience

Big brain moves. ♟️ For our latest newsletter, we interviewed @brucedamer about how ayahuasca helped him realize a breakthrough discovery about the origin of life on Earth. He suspects psychedelics could unlock creative solutions to all sorts of other problems, too. Read the full story through our link in bio. 🫠
