The dust has settled, but the memories are alive and well. Serving as the 2026 Regional Dance America Southeast Adjudicator was an unforgettable honor. Over the course of the tour, I saw 17 pre-professional companies, 450 dancers, 61 group pieces and 54 solos. I then had the privilege to curate and direct three distinct performances for the 70th Anniversary Festival in Birmingham last weekend. As an RDA alum, dedication, determination and discipline were instilled in me from a young age by my artistic director Maxine Chapman. It was inspiring to see those ideals living and breathing in the next generation of artists. Watching the dancers grow in such a short period of time was truly inspiring. A huge thanks to Kimberly Chapman for submitting my name to the adjudicator’s list, the RDA/SE directors for their southern hospitality, Jennifer Beasley and Kylie Morton Berry for their stewardship and the dream tech team of Emma Iacometta, Grant Powicki, Gary Taylor and Jacob Wexler. I’m excited to announce that I’ll be serving as this year’s adjudicator for Regional Dance America / Southeast. This is a true full circle moment as I grew up in the northeast region of this organization and learned so much through the adjudication process and festivals. I’ll be visiting 17 pre-professional companies in Alabama, Florida, Georgia, Kentucky, Mississippi, North Carolina and Tennessee to observe the dancers and give feedback on classes, solos and group pieces. The experience culminates this April at the 70th Anniversary RDA/SE Festival in Birmingham where I’ll curate three performances featuring all 17 companies. I’m honored to serve, humbled by this opportunity and thrilled to engage with the next generation of dancers!

What a day of dance! It was a true pleasure teaching the stunning artists of @aimbykyleabraham yesterday and seeing the incredible choreography of @kyle_abraham_original_recipe and @jamsvy .
