We are thrilled to share that Borealis Lighting Studio, a BR+A Consulting Engineers Group, has been honored for its work on the Arvest Ledger Offices in Bentonville, Arkansas with the National Lighting Bureau Award of Excellence and the NLB + LCA Special Citation for Innovative Lighting Controls Design and Implementation.
This project was a labor of love, weaving together energy efficiency, carbon accountability, circadian wellbeing, and biophilic design into a cohesive lighting experience. From daylight harvesting and tunable circadian sequences to a programmed uplight wave that cues micro-breaks, every detail was designed with both people and the planet in mind.

Andrew Kozak accepted, on behalf of the entire team, the 2nd place for the 2026 ASHRAE Technology Award (New Commercial Buildings) for the NYU Paulson Center at 181 Mercer St! This award internationally recognizes the design and operation of new energy-efficient commercial buildings. This is a full-circle moment as our founder, Gene Bard, won the 1994 and 1995 ASHRAE Technology Award for Dartmouth Hitchcock Medical Center and Dartmouth College Burke Laboratory. Great to see our legacy of engineering excellence continue!

We’re proud to celebrate Women’s Month by reflecting on the incredible women who shape our industry every day. Our hard hat tours of our latest projects at the @massgeneral Ragon Building, hosted by @pwcboston , and @vertexpharmaceuticals Leiden Center 2 Expansion, hosted by @crewboston , brought together women across architecture, engineering, and construction. Together we explored the innovative inner workings of the multi‑phased healthcare expansions at the MGH Ragon Building, as well as the developments of Boston's first fully electric lab at Vertex's LC2. Moments like these remind us how powerful it is when women come together to learn, lead, and inspire across the built environment.

A few of our team members had the opportunity to join @crewboston 's Hard Hat Tour of 585 Kendall in Cambridge—a project we’re proud to work on. This transformative development, soon-to-be Takeda's Global headquarters, brings together nature, art, community, and life sciences in the heart of Kendall Square. Highlights of the tour include a welcoming ground floor garden, 500,000 sf of lab and office spaces, and a 45,000 sf performing arts center featuring a 400-seat theater by @globalartslive . We're excited to continue collaborating with incredible industry partners to see this vision come to life.
