First we found this amazing early C20th carved planter in the form of a swan in flight.
Inspired by hearing Elkie Brooks belt out ‘Liliac Wine’ in the Cadogan Hall on the eve of her 81st birthday, we then paired it with the painted console, raided the lilac trees at home and together with a deliciously colourful backdrop from the wonderful Gladioli fabric by Caryn Hibbert’s [email protected] we created this window scape to mark the slow pathway from spring through to the warmth of summer.

Our Design Retreat is a five day itinerary, bringing together exclusive access to some of the world’s leading interior designers, antique dealers, and artists, along with private visits to their homes — many of which are not normally open to the public.
Based at Thyme in the Cotswolds, the week explores the region’s rich design culture, looking at fabrics, craftsmanship, art, and history, alongside exceptional food and drink.
