FASHION’S OWN ‘ENFANT TERRIBLE’, JEAN PAUL GAULTIER WAS THE PERFECT CHOICE TO DESIGN THE LARGER-THAN-LIFE SPACE OPERA AND MY PERSONAL BEST SOURCE FOR EVERYTHING IN LIFE.
FROM THE FILM’S INCEPTION, DIRECTOR LUC BESSON ENVISIONED NO ONE BUT THE RENOWNED ‘ENFANT TERRIBLE,’ JEAN PAUL GAULTIER TO BE THE PROJECT’S HEAD COSTUME DESIGNER; CITING THAT NO ONE COULD ENCAPSULATE A FUTURISTIC NYC BETTER THAN GAULTIER, AND IMO JPG DID NOT DISAPPOINT. THE FILM CONTAINED OVER 1000 COSTUMES, EVERY DETAIL COVERED METICULOUSLY, RIGHT DOWN TO THE EXTRAS – CHECK OUT THE HENCHMEN SLICK LEATHER SUITING AND MCDONALDS LADIES CORSET –THE EQUIVALENT OF 10 COLLECTIONS.
THE PIECES TOOK INSPIRATION FROM CLUB WEAR, FETISH/BONDAGE OUTFITS, UNDERWEAR/OUTERWEAR, FOREIGN MILITARY UNIFORMS ALSO SOME CONTINUING THEMES PRESENT IN GAULTIER’S PREVIOUS COLLECTIONS WHILE INCORPORATING A FUTURISTIC VISION VIA NON-TRADITIONAL MATERIALS SUCH AS PLEXIGLASS, RUBBER AND NEOPRENE. BESSON ALLOWED GAULTIER TO UNLEASH HIS IMAGINATION TO THE FULLEST EXTENT, WHICH I FEEL MADE THIS FILM TRULY ICONIC.

What happened last night? We hosted our first in residence with @eroseroseroseroseroseros . A personal and intimate collection of queer coded and gay titles and media. Soft Studies
A study in winter dressing — out of season, on purpose.
Layered silhouettes and heavier fabrics, adapted for now. Movement brings out the texture and structure of each piece. Wool, leather, knits, and mixed materials still hold their weight, even as the season shifts.
