“It's about providing love and support. It is about ensuring that each one of them has what they need to be successful. Not because it's a gift. Not because it's charity. Something quite different - it's because it's what they deserve.” - Co-Founder & Executive Director, @klwsees Our young people deserve it all. Last night’s Voices Gala was a celebration of the brilliance, creativity, and resilience of our young people - and a reminder of the transformative power of sustained community, opportunity, and care. We were honored to gather alongside our supporters, honorees, members, alumni, and staff to reflect on the core values that have guided BroSis since its founding: Community, Knowledge, Positivity, and Future. From a powerful youth performance to moving reflections shared throughout the evening, every moment reinforced why this work matters and what’s possible when young people are fully seen, heard, and supported. Thank you to everyone who made this meaningful evening possible. Your support helps ensure that the next generation continues to thrive. 📸: @JohnnyNunez #BroSis #Voices #VoicesGala #VoicesGala2026 #changemakers

Inspired by the May 2025 Encores! Wonderful Town, artist Angel Abreu collaborated with students from The Brotherhood Sister Sol (BroSis) to explore themes of home, reinvention, movement, and community through art. Abreu and the BroSis students created personal statements of belief and identity, layered words and imagery onto pages from Bernstein’s score, and then wove them into canvases and paper. 🎨 Check it out in our Orchestra lobby through January. 📸: Caleb Bryant Miller

Tonight, the room is filled with purpose. Our annual gala is underway, and we are deeply moved by the community around us - people who believe in the brilliance, leadership, and future of our youth. As tonight’s honoree Derek Fordjour shared: “I’m convinced that the architects of change that will build a new future for us are in the midst of this organization right now, building a better tomorrow for us all.” That belief is at the heart of this evening. Every conversation, every contribution, and every person in this room helps move that vision forward. We are honored to celebrate @the_real_iman and @fordjourstudio - visionary leaders whose work continues to challenge and expand what representation and creative leadership can look like. To everyone joining us tonight: thank you for showing up with generosity, care, and commitment. The energy in this space is powerful, and we’re excited to share more moments from the evening soon. 💫

Today is the day. ✨ Our community gathers tonight to celebrate young people, honor creativity and leadership, and invest in futures filled with possibility. This work happens because people continue to show up: with generosity, partnership, advocacy, and belief in what young people can achieve when they are supported fully and unapologetically. We’re deeply grateful to every supporter, sponsor, partner, and friend joining us for this special evening, and we are honored to celebrate @the_real_iman and @fordjourstudio , whose leadership and creative work continue to expand visibility, spark dialogue, and inspire change. We can’t wait to come together and share the power of our collective action. Swipe through to see some of the voices we have heard from over the years! #BroSis #youthdevelopment #youthempowerment #voices #voicesgala #voicesgala2026

In an ongoing partnership with @MTC_NYC , the Liberation Program was offered a theatre experience, which included attending The Broadway Show, The Balusters, and a preparatory workshop beforehand! In the workshop, teaching artist and playwright @danielagonzalezyperez took us through community-building theatre games that explored home and belonging. Daniela also brought actor La DANIELLA as a guest artist to talk about her experience making theatre that centers women and girls of color. BroSis members engaged in games like Zip Zap Zop, "Family Portrait", and "This is my Friend". Daniela and La DANIELLA fostered a safe space for our young people to discuss their different meanings of home. Our members mentioned feeling more grounded and connected to one another after the workshop. The group then attended the phenomenal show at the Samuel J. Friedman Theatre. Big thank you to Manhattan Theatre Club, their Assistant Director of Learning and Community Engagement Gabbie Ballesteros, and Daniela Gonzalez y Perez for the incredible experience. #BroSis #youthdevelopment #youthempowerment #liberationprogram #broadway

15 of our members and young alumni interested in the music and creative industries participated in an immersive behind-the-scenes experience at @RepublicRecords ’ Chelsea Studios - connecting directly with industry professionals, learning about creative career pathways, and gaining firsthand exposure to the world of music production. From conversations about navigating evolving industries to witnessing a live recording session and exploring the technical side of studio production, students were encouraged to think deeply about their own curiosity, vision, opinions, and self-confidence. One message resonated throughout the day: if not you, then who? Experiences like these help young people see what’s possible, build networks, and imagine themselves in spaces they may not have previously had access to. We’re grateful to everyone who shared their time, insight, and wisdom with our members. #BroSis #youthdevelopment #youthempowerment #republicrecords #careers #careerpanel

Last week, BroSis members, staff, and community came together to celebrate the incredible Class of 2026 and their post-secondary decisions, which included college, trade school, and the Armed Forces. Hosted in the beautiful @FrankWhiteMemorialGarden , this event featured games, fresh air, and the vibrant energy of our Planting Weeks. The day was full of joy, laughter, good food, and community pride. Seniors marked the occasion by decorating college pennants and lanyards for their college IDs. We also had a Slush & Brush activity, where creativity met self-care. Members enjoyed refreshing slushies while participating in our Wellness Club initiative. To our seniors: YOU did it. All the hard work, dedication, and perseverance led to this moment. Congratulations! Transition Day is up next! We’ll be supporting our graduates as they prepare for campus life, connecting them with resources and creating space to share both their excitement and their nerves as they begin this next chapter. 📸: @danielvasquezphotos #BroSis #youthdevelopment #youthempowerment #decisionday #graduation #classof2026

Different stoop, same mission: to equip youth with the tools they need to succeed; to create space for them to thrive academically, emotionally, and professionally; and to empower them to become critical thinkers and leaders who can change the world. 30+ years ago, our co-founders, @klwsees & @JasonWarwin , had a vision grounded in championing access and opportunity for all. They founded an organization to work at the intersection of racial, gender, and economic justice and to organize for equality and equity. They have taken what BroSis has created and trained others on the model across the country and internationally. Help us sustain and strengthen this work by attending our Annual Voices Gala on Thursday, May 14th. Grab your tickets today, and build the future with us. Rain or shine 🌱 our 2026 Planting Weeks are going strong! Members from across our programs are coming together at @FrankWhiteMemorialGarden to dig in - planting raised beds, composting, and contributing to the space in meaningful ways. Beyond beautification, participants are building camaraderie and strengthening their communication through team-based challenges. A special highlight: a hands-on tea-making workshop led by Herbalist Antonia Perez from @Herban.Cura 🍵 #BroSis #youthdevelopment #youthempowerment #frankwhitememorialgarden #plantingweeks #environmentaljustice
