Thank you all for the kind birthday wishes. So very much appreciated. Getting older is strange and wonderful. So here are some highlights of my 43rd year on Earth. I hope that my 44th is the best one yet and two days into it I definitely have a good feeling about it. Thank you all for your friendship!
Here’s an organ solo I took last weekend at Chans with @monstermikewelch . I learned this Hammond technique from playing Street Fighter on Nintendo as a kid and being a #buttonmasher 😂

Pumped to be playing a show at @meadowbluescoffee on Friday May 15! Since moving to New York I have played here many times as part of the Wednesday night blues jams. It is a wonderful spot with a great clientele and I can’t wait to play my original music there. I’ll have @garritydrums with me as well as #stevekirsty on bass. The last time I played with Steve was in Basel Switzerland! Can’t wait to play with Matt and Steve again, please come join us! It’s gonna be great fun!

Today was a huge day for The Linda Ronstadt Experience. We had not one, not two, but three new additions to the group who hadn’t played together until soundcheck.
Not only that, but i pivoted from keys to bass for the first time ever, with Brooks coming out of Ronstadt Retirement to fill my usual spot.
I was amazed (but not surprised) to hear the band play with heart, and to honor the songs despite all of the chaotic factors. This was my proudest moment as a musical director.
Thanks to the @themilfordtheater for an amazing evening! We are so glad you enjoyed the show. The accommodations at @felixscantinamilford.pa were second to none!
Tomorrow we drive to Delaware for a sold-out show at @miltontheatre - but now we sleep!
Next Friday, 4/17 I’m pumped to be playing at @lastwhiskybar from 8-10! I know the flyer below says 7 and you should get there at 7 because you’re always running late! It’s gonna be awesome and i have @matt.raymond.bass and @garritydrums playing with me. Please come down and hang with us!
Here’s a song from my latest record, Roll With the Punches, put out by @momojo.records ! Funny story about this song… it’s called “Worry” and it’s one of the last songs I wrote for the album. In all honesty it wasn’t my favorite song and I thought about cutting it from the album entirely - in fact I did have to cut it from the vinyl due to time restraints. It’s hard to explain, it wasn’t that I didn’t like it, I just felt like it wasn’t as strong as the others around it and I wasn’t able to get @chrisanz4 for the session so I had to do it really stripped down, you know all the behind the scenes stuff we have to consider while making a record. But fast forward to the album being released, being heard, being reviewed… this song is always brought up in reviews, and is always mentioned by friends that have listened to the record, and I also have really grown to love this tune as much as any of them. Funny that a song about my endless anxiety would resonate so hard in these anxious times 😬
Also worth mentioning that the “riff”, or really just the comping pattern I play in the verses, came to me while in Basel Switzerland rehearsing for a festival we played at last year. Don’t you love it when something hits you and you’re sitting there like “wow I hope I remember how to play this tomorrow”!!

The Western States still making music in the year 2026. After 14ish years of this (18 with Jeff!), I still don't know why these talented devils ever agreed to play these songs in the first place -- but I feel as fortunate as ever to be part of it.

I’m out here on the cape making a record with @glennyoder and things are going splendid. I can’t pass up an opportunity to play a nice real grand piano and this piano is no exception! Here’s me futzing around on an old #tomwaits song called Mr Siegel, off of Heart Attack and Vine. I’ve always enjoyed playing it, even if I sound nothing like Tom. Also, I know I look like a caveman. Maybe I’ll get a haircut soon… #nah

Thursday April 9 I’m going to be playing at @jazzonmain at 7:00! I’ll be performing lots from my new record as well as classic blues and we’re gonna have a lot of fun! Wanted to play my Rhodes (edit to clarify that this is a @vintagevibe piano!) a little today so I set it up and was reminded how I’ve always wanted to do a cover of this Led Zeppelin song, but do it like a lounge crooner cover. Maybe somebody already has, I’m out of touch. I don’t have a Vegas vocalist at my disposal so you’ve gotta put up with me singing it lol I couldn’t go all Robert Plant either cuz I live in a condo and don’t need to rouse the neighbors. I’m just riffing around, not the most profound solo ever but I love the tone of this thing with the tremolo. It’s one of a kind. It’s a #minorblues Wednesday. Yes I also overdubbed a piano track just to fill in some spaces. No AI was utilized… isn’t it a shame we have to clarify nowadays? This week we had weather in the 70’s!!! That was awesome and made me play more happy sounding major key songs 😂 here is me playing Sunny Side of the Street… it’s fun to watch my face and try to pinpoint where I make mistakes 😂 I don’t practice #stridepiano enough. Hope you all have a great weekend!
