this week i am starting a radio show with @8ballradio 🎱 it will be an exploration into electronic music i find interesting to me. i aim for it to be messy, experimental, and honest - so do not expect clean transitions or a uniform mixing or style. rather, it will be a place to have fun and enjoy some tunes. first show is this friday, april 3rd, on 8ballradio.nyc . Today I am publishing my first EP, “vesface, To Rest”. As a first project, it is by nature, imperfect. The act of creation was the most important thing here. To be able to leave behind my anxieties and immerse myself in my own sound, instead of hiding behind others. I always considered music too holy for me to touch. Even though I had been obsessed with it since I could conceptualize it, I felt I had nothing meaningful to add to that world. At 18, I quietly put it away and decided to move on to other things. I still felt the pull, and I was fortunate enough in my college to be exposed to an entirely different world of music than I had been floundering in - electronic music, by the random coincidence that I chose to go to college at a place near Detroit. I felt I had something meaningful to contribute, and thanks to critical friends, supporters, and mentors, I was able to gain the confidence to finally try to write. This is the first result of that. This project began in an entirely different place than where I am now. Physically, socially, mentally. I took comfort in that fact that if I had absolutely nothing else, I still had music. Therefore, I tried to take everything I was feeling and put it in here. Thank you @bictorbab for creating the beautiful album art (and always supporting me from all the way in France) and @jacob_clements_music for the careful mastering done on the final records. Like a pink moon rising into the early-summer sky, the Sidera Afters have returned for a second event. A tightly curated, glowing show awaits you only once between the hours of 3-8am. Jagged electricity, pulsing sine waves, a heavenly daze of color and light will affect your senses during the city’s most silent hours. Come to this oasis of warm sound that is tucked away in a secret room, on a secret floor, against a black early-summer night. Leading our event is WTCHCRFT, a celebrated force in the NY electronic scene. An accomplished producer and DJ, his decade+ of techno curation gives him the exclusive ability to carve out a hard hitting, jacking dance floor of sought-after textures. He has recently released yet another dance-ready EP, “ANY DAY NOW”, a soundtrack to carry us through this dystopian funhouse. Third Self directs the start of our night. A leading member of the beloved party series @bootybass.lift , he curates the sounds of ghettotech, juke, and Baltimore club with an acute eye. Check out his recent EP “Combo Deal Vol: 2” to go on a lush journey of Jersey club. Turning night to morning we have Brooke Steele, the director of Sidera, DJ & producer. Inspired by raw percussion, grooving dance floors, and a constant sense of energy, expect a set that keeps the floor moving in pace. Their recent EP, “Vesface, to rest” explores hard-hitting kicks against scraping synth-lines. Finally, we will have NTRPY close out the night with her deep library of breakcore. Newer onto the scene, she brings a fresh ear to the decks supported by years of love built into the music she plays.
