As our 2-year anniversary approaches, Iāve been reflecting on the past and looking ahead, and I realize that many of our new followers may not know who I am. So, let me reintroduce myself.
Iām Jamea Marlowe, owner of The Broken Crayon CLT. Former public school art teacher, wife, mom, and Charlotte artist, I launched @the.brokencrayon in July 2022 after I left teaching to create a space where children can express themselves freely outside of school. Over the past two years, The Broken Crayon has grown beyond my wildest dreams, and Iām excited to see what the future holds.

From concept to community creation!
We had the honor of designing and leading a giant 10ft x 8ft interactive coloring wall for the Kaleidoscope Festival in Waxhaw, NC! @townofwaxhawnc
This piece was created to celebrate the townās vibrant art culture, local businesses, and the families that make this community so special. Watching hundreds of people stop, color, connect, and create together was such a full circle moment for me š
Art has a way of bringing people together and this weekend was proof of that.

2025 reminded me why I do this.
From tiny hands holding paintbrushes for the first time to families creating memories together, I am so proud of what The Broken Crayon has done this year.

This year taught me a lot from losing partnerships and contracts, gaining new ones, pivoting programming, and fighting to keep important programs alive. 2025 was a true test, and Iām incredibly proud to have made it through.
The impact of The Broken Crayon cannot be erased or replaced, and I canāt wait to step into 2026 with even more purpose.
