Back to Back to Back 4wd Modified Carpet National Champion🏆 Headed back west after a successful week at the 1:10th ROAR Carpet Offroad Nationals. The event was hosted by Maximus RC Raceway in Seabrook, New Hampshire. It was certainly the toughest carpet racing weekend for me in quite some time. Lots of wrenching, lots of big steps back and baby steps forward, but by the end, things were coming back around. I feel like I sort of found my footing in 2wd but lost out on the podium in the last main to a tie breaker. I made a setup tweak to attempt for an even higher finishing position but it just didn’t work out well. It was a good learning experience. Congrats to Chase on his first title. As for the 4wd division, I’d go on to win what’s now my 6th national title. All week long I was trying stuff with the car and not running what was comfortable for me but come main time, I had the car back how I liked it and that showed. I lined up 3rd for the mains on Sunday. A1, the leader gapped out while I was trying to get into 2nd, I got there and just ran out of time. A2, the battle between the front runners heated up, I made a good pass and then got into the lead after a mistake from the leader. A3, I got to 2nd quite quickly but wasn’t driving my best, made a mistake and then everything came together. I was shredding and came from a ways back, stuck a pass, and won. Visions Invitational @ PDX RC Underground🏔️ Home and rested from what was probably the most fun event of the year thus far. I had a great time being at PDX for my first time. I experienced good racing and amazing hospitality. I met new people and caught up with old friends. And I got some valuable track time for the ROAR Carpet Nationals. The Reedy Race format was certainly entertaining. 12 races, heads up, on carpet, gnarly. You had to make quick and aggressive work of your competitors. Despite some not so good starting spots when I raced good people and not a lot of freebies, I was still able to get the job done for P1 overall 🥇 Both of my @schumacher_racing buggies were fantastic to drive. @whitzracing was keeping me lightweight and rolling free. No power changes were required to my @hobbywing electronics. @jconcepts aero and tires, lasted forever and were hooked up. @gensacerc batteries provided race security. @savoxusa servos were smooth and consistent. And my @flyskyrc_official radio kept me feeling confident. Thank you to all of my sponsors for the fantastic support and s/o to Kevin Focht, the owner of PDX, for convincing me to go! Got it done in AZ🌵🏆 Back home getting some rest after a super long weekend of racing. Fought hard in both classes but rough luck and first lap mistakes took myself out of it in 2wd going p7 after starting p4. However, 4wd, different story. After some incredible racing and some wicked passes coming back through the pack in A1, I ended up with the TQ/Win. Both of my @schumacher_racing cars were awesome to drive majority of the weekend. I made changes and would go backwards but by the end, running what was working, my cars felt nearly perfect. Stay tuned for those setups. On my way back to SLC after a long few days at the #Jconcepts INS opener. Trackside always puts on a spectacular event, there was 366 entries, and the layout was probably one of the better racing layouts given that small track racing doesn’t really ever provide passing spots. As for the results, P2 in 4wd after a good A1, a terrible luck A2, and a strong A3. We found some good changes as a team on main day but I wasn’t able to do anything with it. I certainly had the best car and the most pace as shown in A3, just got out qualified. P6 in 2wd with really nothing bad to say. Crappy luck mixed with a few mistakes at the most crucial part of the runs. The car was awesome to drive especially on main day but I struggled to get out of my own way early on. I swung, I missed. Same story to kick off last year, almost identical. Need to get a bit better at giving myself a chance to fight for the win at this track and that starts in qualifying. Congrats to all of the winners, Chase was extremely good and deserved what was earned. There’s so many things that go into a professional program and one of those is the hours that go into making the best products. This week, we made huge improvements on several things and I’m looking forward to the Desert Classic in a few weeks time.
