Did you know that bees are responsible for one-third of every bite of food that goes into your mouth? Honeybee populations have experienced a sharp decline in some regions. You can help! In this class, join us to learn all about the basics of beekeeping in Central Oregon. You will learn basic honey bee biology, understand how and why honey bees do what they do, identify the different products of the beehive, and talk about the benefits of bee products and how they can be used in our everyday lives. Explore what it takes to become a beekeeper, including a discussion of the tools, gear, and hive equipment (cost, where to get bees, location, and more), and learn about how best to support the natural progression of a hive throughout the year. This class will give you the knowledge you need to get started as a beekeeper, to support our natural environment, and to help grow the vital honeybee population! From rooftop to restaurant⌠it doesnât get more local than this! đŻđ
At @roambend inside The Oxford Hotel, @chefbryantk partners with our rooftop bees, bringing honey and pollen straight from hive to plate.
Harvested just feet above the kitchen, then woven into the dishes youâre eating. No middleman. Just hyper-local flavor shaped by Bendâs flowers and seasons.
A true hive-to-table experience, and weâre proud to be part of it! đ

What a magical day on the farm. â¨đŞťđ Jimmy of @broadusbees brought his bees to teach us all about these tiny, mighty pollinators, and the girls were absolutely captivated. We planted companion crops in our garden to invite even more pollinators in, and made some sweet new observations on our growing flock of baby chickens and ducks.
A handful of brand new chicks and a fluffy little goose named Albert joined the family this week, much to everyoneâs delight. đ¤
The girls are deep in the work of designing their own farms now, and pollinators are taking center stage. đ We studied all the ways we can welcome them home, adding beehives, lavender fields, and pollinator crops to our maps and farm vision statements. We canât wait to share it all on our final day at Well Rooted Farms @wellrootedproduce for our culmination! đť
Next week we wander down to the waterâs edge to study the plants and animals that call ponds and shorelines home. đž
We are endlessly grateful for the community guests who share their craft and wisdom with us. We learn so much from each of you. đđŞ´
Something sweet is launching đŻ
Weâre excited to be part of the first-ever @elevationfarmersmarket this Friday, May 1st from 3â7 PM! đ
Come celebrate opening day with us, sample our Central Oregon honey, stock up on fresh jars, and say hi to Jimmy đ
Nothing better than local food, community, and a brand new market to kick off the season. See you there!
