My new arrangement of “The Song is Ended,” an Irving Berlin classic, is now available and ready to add a jazzy flair to your next treble choir concert!
New music! 🎶⛵️ “I Sail” is now published for choirs everywhere, included in the inaugural release of the Herbert Washington Choral Series created with Santa Barbara Music Publishing!
I wrote this piece in 2022 for the New Works Rising competition created by Herbert Washington and the Phoenix Boys Choir (Phoenix, AZ). I was immediately excited by their proposed theme of “New Horizons” and launched into one of my first projects with self-written lyrics (pictured are portions of my first sketches). Even though it didn’t place in the competition, Herbert reached out with kind encouragement and asked if he could premiere it—of course, I said yes!
Almost four years later, I am deeply grateful to Herbert, the PBC, and Santa Barbara Music Publishing for the opportunity to share this music more widely with the world. This piece—and more importantly its message of community and hope—means so much to me and serves as a reminder of the endless possibilities we discover when we sail forward together.
“I’m bound along this shimm’ring glow.
From here below, I meet tomorrow’s dawn.
For this I know: there’s farther, still, to go!
Together we sail on!”
