38. 🎂 Here we are. I have an extraordinary husband named James, and I fall more in love with him every single day. I have a son named Bodhi who is bursting with life and weirdness and joy, and he is, without question, the greatest thing I will ever do. I have two of the goodest boys in the world (Dodger and Gus Gus). I have friendships and family relationships that mean so much the world to me. Career-wise, I’ve never been shakier and thing have never been more uncertain. I’ve also never been more creatively on fire and energized. Both things are true and I’m learning to hold them at the same time. Healthy doses of being ever optimistic and wildly delusional helps. My health and my body and my mind are in the best place they’ve ever been. I feel strong and clear and open. And maybe most importantly, in my 30s, and now my late ones, I finally found a home in my own skin. After years of being closeted in my adolescence, of trying on costumes throughout my 20s, and doing what I could to figure out who I even was underneath all of the artifice the world can sometimes demand of you; today I’m a confident, deeply feeling, goofy, powerful, very gay super gay man. I don’t know exactly what’s ahead. But I have this strange, stubborn, beautiful feeling that the best years are still coming. This is me at 38.
