I’m excited to announce that I’ve been promoted to Special Projects Curator at Cranbrook Art Museum! I’m currently working on a summer 2027 Harry Bertoia exhibition with Director Andrew Satake Blauvelt.
After the flashy headshot, you’ll find several examples of Bertoia’s work from his time at Cranbrook Academy of Art (1937-1943). I’ve noticed that a handful of Bertoia’s Cranbrook-era works are repeatedly republished, and I’d admittedly become a bit numb to those photos, as incredible as they are. Today I found myself re-invigorated and impassioned by these rarely (if ever?) published photos in the @cranbrookcenter archive!
Check out the three Harry Bertoia sculptures in architect Minoru Yamasaki’s private residence in Bloomfield Hills, MI. The bush form seen on the Yamasaki-designed coffee table (photo 3) was a Christmas gift from Bertoia after Yamasaki’s commission of the Lambert-St. Louis Airport sculpture screen.
All photos by Balthazar Korab.
My latest exhibition, Designing Cranbrook: The Saarinens’ Eclectic Vision, opened at Cranbrook Art Museum in early 2026! The exhibition is installed in the museum’s lower level galleries and will be up for the foreseeable future.

A dreamy afternoon: while scouting out Bertoia loans @theexchangeint , they let me try on the most beautiful Bjorn Weckstrom for Lapponia necklace — tbh it looked too good with my engagement ring
