🗣️“Our responses to migration are not only shaped by facts, but by our interpretations on these facts” The #BRIDGES project concluded three years of research on #migrationnarratives with a Final Conference held in Brussels, which focused on the impact of migration narratives in a context of increasing polarisation and politicisation, especially in view of the next #EU elections. This video looks back at the purpose of the BRIDGES project and its relevance in the current context, and issues four recommendations directed towards EU #policymakers to encourage a more balanced and evidence-based debate on migration. 📢The 3rd BRIDGES podcast is out! Migration will be a key issue in the #EU electoral campaign. By framing migration as a key threat to our security, far-right parties seek to gain more seats in the European Parliament. ➡The 3rd episode of the BRIDGES podcast series puts the European election in perspective, and discusses how migration narratives play out in Brussels. What kind of migration narratives are dominant in the EU? And how do they actually influence EU policymaking processes? Listen to this conversation between Florian Trauner, co-director of the BIRMM-VUB and BRIDGES researcher, and Omar Ba, community organiser, activist and politician, and former candidate in the elections to the European Parliament in 2019, moderated by Gaia Romero, researcher at BIRMM-VUB. 🔗Available on Spotify, Youtube and RSS. The videoclip "El Extraño" is here!🔥 @flowsohigh , winner of the #BRIDGESHipHopContest, created this song after participating in an artistic residency at the neighbourhood of La Florida, in L'Hospitalet de Llobregat (Barcelona). "El Extraño" reflects on what it means to be a migrant in Spain, as well as the important role that migrants play in the host societies. The “BRIGES Hip-Hop Contest: Challenging migration narratives” was a call promoted by @bridgesmigration with the collaboration of @contorno_urbano and @hiphopworksglobal with the aim of reflecting and contributing to the transformation of dominant and exclusive narratives about migration through Hip Hop. Song produced by @kapione Videoclip by @mindgamefilms Go check it out at🔗Youtube/@bridges_migration

Stay tuned on 1 February for the premiere of the song "El Extraño" by @flowsohigh , winner of the #BRIDGESHipHopContest, produced by @kapione and with @mindgamefilms for the video production 🔥🔥🔥 “BRIGES Hip-Hop Contest: Challenging migration narratives” was a call promoted by @bridgesmigration with the collaboration of @contorno_urbano and @hiphopworksglobal . It was born with the aim of reflecting and contributing to the transformation of dominant and exclusive narratives about migration to make them more inclusive through two artistic interventions: a rap song and a large-format mural. The Colombian artist created his song through a participatory process during his artistic residency at the neighbourhood of La Florida, Spain.
