Please join us for a light brunch reception to mark the closing of 2 exhibitions at @bridgeredstudios ! , @pdcano501 “Pablo Cano -Streams of Consciousness,” AND at under the bridge, @beatmyguest Beatriz Monteavaro, "Tonight, We Can Be as One Tonight ." Pablo Cano is a maker of fabulous things; a sculptor, a clay artist, a painter, a storyteller, and a builder of fantastical marionettes that he has been animating for over 30 years in various productions, mainly at the Cricket Theater, out of his garage in Coral Gables. Watercolors, painted backdrops, and marionettes featured in Cano’s productions, are featured in “Streams of Consciousness.” Of his work and this exhibition, Cano says, “I remember the day my mother gave me a large sheet of white paper to draw on. Even now, the memory of the scent of that paper and Crayola crayons remains vivid. It was my escape into a world of castles, princesses, dragons, and knights. The act of drawing and the tactile nature of art materials continue to inspire me. I often experience a Proustian moment triggered by the simple smell of a fresh sheet of paper. My streams of consciousness occur in those moments when time stands still, allowing play and imagination to mix. It is a beautiful dance where the mind, heart, and hand create together as one. I dedicate this exhibition to my late mother Margarita Cano.” Cano's work is held in the collections of the Cintas Collection, The Lowe Art Museum University of Miami, Florida, the NSU Museum of Art, Fort Lauderdale, Florida, The Perez Art Museum Miami, Florida, The Young at Art Museum, Davie, Florida, and the Museum of Contemporary Art, North Miami, Florida.

Please join us this Sunday from 4 - 6 PM for the opening reception of 3 exhibitions at Bridge Red! Upstairs @bridgeredstudios , artists Kevin Arrow - Ambient Work and Ralph Provisero - Noteable....AND downstairs @underthebridgeartspace , @au_roxana Roxana Barba - Loop to Zero. @drawn_inward Kevin Arrow - Ambient Work, investigates balance, form, and perception through hand-cut paper studies and painted wood panels. Using humble materials—paper, scissors, glue, and paper Arrow builds layered compositions guided by sacred geometry, color, and intuitive structure informed by plants and flowers. @ralphprovisero Ralph Provisero - Noteable: Provisero says of his work, “Adhesive notes have become a means for me to express ideas or make quick sketches. Whether a reminder, a design, or note for a student, these non-committal scraps of paper soon began to fill my sketchbooks and reveal their compositional potential. Noteable is a collection of these small drawings and studies, refined and pushed to their limits, organized in the 5x5 grid format. Each grid is composed of a survey of sculptural studies, architectural observations, ideas, words and phrases usually arranged somewhat chronologically, with other references leading to memory, pop culture, history or any other interesting object or subject that may cross the conscious path. #kevinarrow #collageart #ralphprovisero #postitnoteart #roxanabarba design by @fcasale2018

‘CATS! The Exhibition Purrs Its Way Into Bridge Red By Irene Sperber, Art Critic at Large “The smallest feline is a masterpiece.” — Leonardo da Vinci Pondering shows connections to art and humanity, I realized that cats, like artists, need plenty of quiet alone time, taking in their environment from above the fray. It’s no wonder a human sitting quietly at their easel is a good perch for an equally thoughtful feline. Mythology claimed that cats were the mediators between our realm and the spiritual realm. Perhaps an artist accessing their higher self would benefit from a feline thread between the two worlds. Bridge Red Studios/Project Space is the cool cat and bedrock for an important core of Miami’s working artists. BRS/PS turns its sharply-tuned eye to the plight of our felines with the latest offering “CATS! The Exhibition” located in its North Miami project space. The gallery walls focus on our feline companions with 50 percent of the proceeds of the sale of art going directly to the Humane Society of Greater Miami, a no-kill shelter dedicated to rescuing and caring for animals. A selection of South Florida artists have interpreted their relationships with cats in these presentations. 2 Shows open This Sunday, March 16th from 4-6 pm @bridgeredstudios Tomatâ du Plenty and @underthebridgeartspace : Izel Vargas and Sharon Lee Hart. BRS/PS proud to present the paintings and drawings of Tomatâ du Plenty (1948-2000). Tomatâ du Plenty’s career as an artist was marked by his involvement in the underground art scene. He was a key figure in the punk and new wave movements, known for his flamboyant style and boundary-pushing performances. He was a founding member of the influential performance art group known as The Cockettes, a San Francisco-based collective known for their extravagant, gender-bending performances. Upon his move to LA, he became a staple in the punk rock scene with the seminal synth/punk band, the Screamers. Bands such as X, The Red Hot Chili Peppers, and the Dead Kennedys came up during the time The Screamers were knocking out crowds in showstopping performances in LA. In the late 1980s, Tomatâ relocated to South Florida, where he immersed himself in the burgeoning art scene on South Beach, collaborating with local artists, musicians, and performers. His work often centered on themes of personal interest; his favorite personalities, authors, pugilists, actors and actresses, musicians, and social archetypes, amongst others. Oftentimes, Tomatâ’s work would be featured in local haunts, including laundromats, bars like the Hamlet off Lincoln Road, and artist spaces, such as Art Act on Lincoln. Seen dressed in a suit, carrying a briefcase full of artwork, Tomatâ would sell his paintings sometimes for as little as 10 to 25 dollars. In the early 90’s Tomatâ moved to New Orleans, while traveling back and forth to Los Angeles. After a battle with cancer, Tomatâ du Plenty passed away on March 2, 2000, in Los Angeles. Bridge Red is at 12425 NE 13th Ave. North Miami 33161
