It’s two types of dogs… DOG and DAWG. DOG stay in the house, comfortable, protected, waiting to be fed. DAWG been outside. Been through storms, fights and pressure situations. Everybody wanna bark when it’s easy… but when adversity hit, we find out who really got that DAWG in them.

Bridge Shooting Academy Enrollment Now Open If your child is putting in the work but the results aren’t showing up in games, they’re not alone. Most players don’t struggle because they aren’t trying, they struggle because they haven’t been shown exactly what to fix. Our June Shooting Academy is designed to give players that clarity. Every session is structured so they understand their shot, make the right adjustments, and build real confidence over time. This is the difference between just getting shots up and actually becoming a consistent shooter. Send a DM to @bridgebball with ā€œSHOOTā€ to receive full details and claim your free shooting assessment.

Your basketball mind is worth more than your skill set…And your defense is worth even more.

Set your defender up first… sell the slow, then explode out of it. Young boy 6’7 in the 8th… scary hours. Don’t box him in… he ain’t no big, he a wing. Move like it too.

One of the biggest mistakes you can make when teaching on-court concepts especially those tied to basketball IQ is incorporating a shot or a finish at the rim too early in the learning process. While it may feel natural, it actually takes away from the true objective of the drill. The moment a shot is introduced, the player’s focus almost immediately shifts to the outcome whether the ball goes in or not rather than the decision making behind the action. Instead of learning how to read the game, they become consumed with results. Once those habits are built and understood, the shot can then be added back in without compromising the learning process. #BasketballIQDevelopment

Now here’s the reality nobody talks about… When a player really starts developing under good leadership, that’s when the attention shows up. Everybody sees the progress… now everybody has something to say. Outside people start popping up, putting that sugar in their ear… telling parents and players everything they want to hear. Making them feel good, selling dreams, all while skipping steps and messing up the development they had going. The crazy part is, a lot of parents fall for it. But we’re used to it at Bridge. So we stay in our lane… and keep developing the next one coming up. To name one of our up & coming is Luke and he’s going to be the real deal. Some of y’all in his class already know he’s a problem. Only 10 years old and already 5’11. Free game for young development coaches, don’t get in your feelings… just develop the next one.

When you attack baseline, you can’t go in soft. You have to play through your shoulder to create space. Most players try to avoid contact… that’s why they get cut off or forced into tough angles. The defender is sitting on your hip so instead, drop that inside shoulder into the defender’s chest, stay low, and drive through the line. That shoulder creates separation and keeps the defender behind you, not beside you.
