Brickworld Indianapolis 2026 Part 1: This year's brickworld was yet another amazing year for the event. While there were, as always, overpriced minifigures and build-a-minifig galore, this post will be focusing on other aspects of the show. A very notable addition this year was a Brick Derby track, where you could build a car and race it. I didn't participate directly in it, but I'm a huge fan of pinewood derby so this was a spectacular addition. It also felt like there were even more displays than the previous years, but that could be inaccurate. Some of my favorites included the Olympics/world flags display, the amusement park and various ferris wheel displays, the two American flags, and the native American display. The funniest has to be the various sets that were built out of spare multicolored parts. It reminded me of the meme where someone built the entire UCS Millennium Falcon out of spare parts. I also didn't get a direct photo of this, but there was a display next to the Olympics display that had various flash speeders in multiple colors. That was pretty entertaining to see. Outside of displays, a common issue I saw was the overcrowding. I was planning on scouting out every vendor before making any purchases, but that plan quickly fell through when most of the vendors were packed. I ultimately went to the ones that weren't as crowded. Block party specifically was the worst since it was at the very front. Next year I'm going to visit that vendor very last since it was the most consistently crowded throughout the show. In most of the photos there aren't many people, and that's because I wait until the very end to take most of the pictures since it allows me to easily speedrun viewing the displays. To be continued... #brickworld #brickworldindy #brickworldindianapolis #brickworld2026 #brickworldindy2026

Don Murphy never set out to invent one of the most iconic youth engineering traditions — he just wanted a way for kids who couldn’t build full-size cars to still race and compete. What started as a simple wooden block and four wheels turned into the Pinewood Derby, teaching generations about speed, design, friction, and problem-solving without anyone even realizing they were learning physics. 🚗🪵 #scouts #brickderby #learning #STEM #fyp

BrickDerby started as Pinewood Pro’s experiment to modernize a classic game, and yeah… the early versions looked a little goofy 😅 But that’s what innovation looks like—test, tweak, improve. Now it’s dialed in, refined, and finally the version it was always meant to be.#scouts #brickderby #learning #STEM #fyp

This new smart brick turns builds into something that actually thinks 🤯 Sensors, lights, and app control sound cool… but the controversy around it is already wild 👀 #brickderby #DIY #fun #building #fyp

Boy Scout activities have always leaned more toward hands-on problem solving, tools, and physical challenges, which is exactly why combining programs for equal opportunity actually makes sense. When everyone gets access to the same experiences, skills, and leadership paths, the conversation shifts from who’s allowed to do what to who’s willing to step up and learn it. #scouts #brickderby #learning #STEM #fyp

Teaching physics and engineering isn’t hard — keeping attention is. When learning is tied to building, testing, and racing something you can physically change, students stay locked in without realizing they’re learning equations, systems, and cause-and-effect in real time. #scouts #brickderby #learning #STEM #fyp

Scouting wasn’t just different 20 years ago — it was harder in ways that don’t show up on a requirement list. Less supervision, more risk, longer trips, and more independence meant mistakes mattered more, which is why people still argue whether modern Scouting is safer, smarter, or simply easier. #scouts #brickderby #learning #STEM #fyp

Few things teach kinetic and potential energy, mass, momentum, and aerodynamics better than watching a design change instantly affect speed and performance. When kids can move weight, change shape, and rerun the experiment, abstract physics concepts suddenly become obvious instead of theoretical. #scouts #brickderby #learning #STEM #fyp

Merit badges are supposed to mean you earned something, not just showed up for it… but are they getting handed out too easily now, or are we just evolving how kids learn? Some troops say standards are slipping, others say access matters more than gatekeeping—curious where you land on this one. #scouts #brickderby #learning #STEM #fyp

People keep asking if Scouting is dead, but the truth is the activities are better than they’ve ever been, more hands-on, more STEM-driven, and more relevant to real life than before, even while overall Scout membership keeps shrinking. The problem isn’t what Scouts do, it’s that fewer people realize how much smarter, more engaging, and more valuable these experiences have become. #scouts #brickderby #learning #STEM #fyp
