“The green is really kind of a punchbowl — it’s down in a hollow. It’s not a conventional fabricated punchbowl as many are. This was a natural hollow that was blind from the direction we’re coming at it from and has a ridge in front of it. So if you’re going to try to make it to the green, you know really all you have to do is cover the ridge. So even though the green might be 250 yards away, the top of the ridge is only 210 away. So if you can cover the top of the ridge, the ball is going to run down onto the green. The ridge is big enough that you can’t see the pin … most of the time you don’t know where the pin is, so it’s a complete crapshoot. … From the middle of the fairway, the line is usually the clubhouse, which is way in the distance.” — @dmkgolf on the par-5 No. 13 @gamblesandsgolf

Deep in the Georgia countryside, the Fall Line Sandbelt offered a perfect location for one of the most unique and modern golf clubs in the US, imagined and crafted by the brilliant Australian design team @ocmgolf .
Sand, gently rolling terrain, a healthy budget and passionate developers allowed Architects Mike Cocking, Ashley Mead and Geoff Ogilvy to unearth a stunning Heathland style design rarely seen in the US to date.
Fast, firm and wide playability combine tactical risk lines, and eye-popping texture with the use of uniquely reddish Centipede grass, creating definitive bunker eyebrows and distinctive architectural framing.
The East course is spectacular with wildly fast turf and and interesting modern, yet feels like it’s been there for decades look. Truly an absolute pleasure to photograph.
Georgia is definitely on my mind today, The Fall Line is quietly one of the most interesting properties I’ve seen.
