Rode the Dusty Susque yesterday which was another brain fart of @baronvonfancypants and @endocafelancaster
Things started out grand. Fast pull along the river with a train of youngsters behind this old guy.
Mile forty shit went sideways as I overcorrected a gravel descent and had a meeting with a soft shoulder and a thornybush. Legs cramped up and so did my brain. Problem was with that route there are no bail-outs or shortcuts so one signs up for 67, one rides the 67.
Pickles and good spirits at the 48-mile aid station put me back together again and the ride got rode. Thanks @benwhobikes and @sckressler for just riding along and letting me bitch and moan during my dark hour. Xxoo.
😎
Day-trip to NYC yesterday with Sacha and Rob and Kevin to pick up some supplies, see some art, walk around, etc. Shot with my Sony mirrorless and a 50-year-old 28mm lens that I used for photography class in 1988 in these very same places. (Except the Four Seasons, I never went there when I was broke college student.)
Something unusual in Bryant Park yesterday as I walked by while in NYC. It’s a woodcock! Otherwise known as a timberdoodle.
Quite the scene on a lovely Saturday Manhattan morning.
The weather’s better but my head’s in September already for the @pagravelfest .
@dqpryor will have a ton of these stickers this weekend at the @phillybikeexpo (I’ll have some too)
Get out and ride.
Spent the day before my 58th birthday biking 105 miles from my front door to @nycvelo , via @uptown_cyclery and @damp_roads_cycling_club
Spent the day with @christopherthomasmckenna
This was my 20th 100-miler since 2014 but the first time I’ve ridden to NYC. Really cool to roll in on the Staten Island Ferry.
Nice weather. Awesome company.
