100 Artists. 100 Murals. 18 Days. 🎨
Anacostia is becoming America’s newest open-air art museum.
From May 1–18, 2026, the Capital Hill Boys Club (CHBC) Arts Foundation is bringing over 100 artists together to create 100+ murals across Anacostia, Pennsylvania Avenue East, Minnesota Avenue, and Deanwood—transforming the east-of-the-river communities into a vibrant, living gallery.
Artists from across Washington, D.C. will paint simultaneously, celebrating the culture, history, and identity of these neighborhoods. Residents and visitors alike will get a rare, behind-the-scenes experience—watching murals come to life in real time while exploring large-scale public art throughout the community.
“This festival is about transforming our neighborhoods through creativity and community pride,” said Founder and Festival Director Dietrich Williams. “We’re building a living gallery that reflects the voices, stories, and cultural legacy of Anacostia and beyond.”
✨ What to expect:
• Live mural painting across multiple locations
• Public art tours + artist talks
• Youth workshops + community art activities
• Pop-up events, performances, and more
• Opportunities to meet the artists behind the work
The festival kicks off May 1 with a community celebration featuring live music, local food vendors, and conversations on the power of public art.

I Never Liked Lectures Let Alone Giving Them. So When A Legend @cjpgallery Hit Me To Speak To His Students I Knew I Had To See Them In Person. Instead Of Talking About Me The Whole Time I Asked Them About Their Struggles In Their Journey And Gave Them Advice On What I Think They Should Do To Overcome What They Saw As Obstacles. This Was Refreshing Because They All Struggled With Real Artist Issues. Had I Not Asked They May Have Held It Until They Couldn’t Any More. I’m Not Perfect At All But It’s Great To Share Thoughts And Guide A Little In The Direction Of Confidence & Care For The Arts. Thank You For Having Me @howard1867@hufinearts 🙏🏽🫂🤝🏽✨
