Shortwave is a new festival of sound and performance in four venues across south east London - a weekend where artists, musicians and DJs come together for two nights of commissioned works, experimentation and live performance. Brought together by a shared affront to convention and a set of ambient sympathies that push dance music to its limits, Torus joins Emma dj for a rare b2b; while upsammy returns her spacial approach to IDM and club to MOT following her 2025 residency. Jennifer Walton debuts her new alias Secretary, stepping back behind the CDJs following the release of her Pitchfork and Quietus-acclaimed debut album Daughters to gift us with her meticulous approach to electronic music. And SUUTOO, fresh from a run of US shows, has been slowly establishing herself as one of London’s most progressive voices working across sound, performance and world-building, drawing on noise and club music as tools for collective release and transformation. London based Jordanian-Irish artist DJ GAWAD - joined live by Palestinian rapper Pierre Pepe - takes a satirical, detail-driven approach to production; folding Memphis rap into warped, sharp, club-focused productions, heard in recent work with James Massiah on Contact High. They will be joined by a first-time b2b by residents soltura and Freestyler. Expect euro-kitsch and transmissions from London and the continent’s more absurd corners.

Tonight, direct from Gdynia, Poland, we welcome underground club and rap innovator @2k88synu to @clubcheek alongside Egyptian, French and Belgian contingent including @assyoutii , @vendredear and @icedlattina —— Formerly known as 1988, genre-hopping experimental producer Przemysław Jankowiak (aka 2K88) now stirs the remnants of bass-heavy UK club music with ‘90s and ‘00s Polish rap nostalgia, creating a borderless stew of cultural inspirations and predictions. His debut 2K88 album SHAME, released on Unsound, was described by Boomkat as an example of “just what Poland’s vibrant hybrid club scene has to offer”, with its laser-focused blend of angst-filled nostalgia and eerie futurism. In 2025 as part of Unsound Festival, he commissioned a new collaborative work with @rainymiller_ @bianca_scout and @laurenduffus named by many as a key highlight of the Krakow festival. excited to announce that Cairo raised Berlin based @assyoutii joins us next Saturday @clubcheek ‼️ He joins a stacked international lineup from Poland, Belgium, France and London including @2k88synu , @icedlattina , @vendredear , @laurenduffus (DJ) and more. ——— Assyouti is among his generation’s most distinct DJs and producers. Juggling hypermodern bass mutations, warped dancefloor snaps and percussive club experiments, he draws energy from the chaotic stimulus he grew up engulfed by, routing it into refined productions and elegant selections. Since 2021, he’s been based in Berlin and has quickly gained local traction, appearing at venues like the legendary club Tresor, RSO, OHM, and Trauma Bar. He has also performed at renowned music festivals like Berlin’s CTM, Polands Unsound and Uganda’s Nyege Nyege. In 2024, he also founded the No_Stone event series that he runs with Barcelona-based DJ/Selector Jehia TICKETS IN BIO 🔗

This March, Brief Encounters and @bby.eco bring his Europe and UK tour to Bristol, heralding the release of his transformative third album ‘Sky (i)’ + Support from Cyst —— Bby Eco is the artist name of Joris Benjamins (b. 1996), the Amsterdam-based musician whose audiovisual works document the transformation of inner experience into elemental, playful and spiritual worlds. Cyst is a new secret band consisting of Daisy & Seamus (fka @babii.mp3 & @iglooghost ) They make horrid songs about oozing skin rashes and being stalked by an orange bunny. They are set to release their first music on LUCKYME in 2026.
