Cologne never disappoints. 🍺🇩🇪
Any visit here has to include plenty of Kölsch, so we happily dove right in. We started with a @fruehgastronomie at lunch before heading to @petersbrauhaus , one of the city’s iconic Kölsch halls, for a few stangs.
There’s just something special about the beer culture in Cologne. The crisp, refreshing Kölsch. The tiny stang glasses that somehow never stay empty for long. The lively tables full of strangers becoming drinking buddies by the end of the night.
We spent the afternoon sipping, chatting with fellow patrons and soaking up the atmosphere that makes Cologne one of our favorite beer cities.
Simple beers, great conversation and a tradition that feels unique to this city. That’s our kind of afternoon. 🍻
Beer in Paris? Always yes. 🍺🇫🇷
We walked through an absolutely massive rainstorm to get to our favorite brewery in Paris, @patocheandfriends . and honestly, it made that first sip even better.
The reward? Incredible beer, fantastic service and a meat and cheese board that turned into one of our favorite nights in the city.
She started with the Parigose: tart, refreshing, crushable, and exactly what you want from a great gose. The L’ovillouse hazy NEIPA was another winner.
But the beer we both couldn’t stop talking about was Fauteur De Trouble, a 9% hazy Triple NEIPA that somehow managed to be huge, smooth, juicy and dangerously drinkable all at once. Wow.
He also tackled the Black Forest Gump, a mighty imperial double stout, clocking in at a hefty 11% ABV. Rich, bold and perfect for a rainy Paris night.
Paris might be famous for wine, but nights like this remind us it’s a seriously underrated beer city, too.
Two beers from Hana Koa Brewing Co., and both were excellent. 🍺🌺
First up: a collab with Duke’s Waikiki , the Ama IPA New England Hazy. Juicy, smooth and exactly the kind of beer we want while hanging out in Hawaii.
Then came Roll Away, their oatmeal stout, which completely hit the spot. Rich, flavorful and surprisingly perfect even in warm weather.
We love when a brewery can nail two totally different styles in the same visit. @hanakoabrewing definitely delivered. 🤙🏻
Not every beer we drink is a world-class craft masterpiece … and honestly, that’s part of the fun. 🍺🌴
We had Taula in Samoa and Vailima in American Samoa. Were they the best beers we’ve ever had? Probably not. But drinking local beers in places this beautiful makes them memorable anyway.
Cold lager, hot sun, ocean views and paradise all around us? That’s the kind of pairing that makes any beer taste better. ☀️🇼🇸🇦🇸
Sometimes it’s less about what’s in the glass and more about where you’re drinking it. That's why we keep traveling. Cheers to travel beers and unforgettable places.
Not every destination needs a craft brewery. Sometimes, the perfect beer is just the cold one waiting for you after a day in the Fiji sun. ☀️🍺🇫🇯
In Fiji, that beer is Fiji Gold: a crisp, refreshing island lager you’ll find everywhere from beach bars to resort restaurants. After a hot afternoon by the water, it absolutely hits the spot.
Simple, easy-drinking and exactly what the moment calls for. Cheers to vacation beers. 🌴
Golden, Colorado: where the mountains meet the beer 🍻⛰️
We spent a whirlwind weekend taking on our self-proclaimed “Golden Craft Beer Trail”… and yes, we conquered all 8 stops. 💪🍺
From hazy IPAs and crisp kölsches to wild sours and dessert-inspired pours, this little town just outside Denver seriously delivers. Even better? A bunch of these spots are walkable, so you can sip your way through town with mountain views the whole time.
Favorites? Tough call, but the vibes at @goldencitybrew , the creative pours at @codabrewing and the epic setup at @newterrainbrewingco all stood out.
@barrelsbottles and @mountaintoad are faves we return to again and again. @bivybeerbar wins for selection. H/T to @madmacksbrewing and @holidailybrew for low- and no-gluten options.
Pro tip: Base yourself at @tablemtninn and you’re right in the middle of it all. Walk, sip, repeat.
Craft beer, sunshine, mountain air … honestly,
We're in the middle of a delightful early spring weekend getaway in Golden, staying in the heart of Historic Downtown Golden at Table Mountain Inn.
The mission: Have a beer or two at every stop on our Golden Craft Beer Trail.
Check out our progress on our dedicated craft beer account @breweriesontour with all the breweries featured in our Stories over there.
Cheers, all!
We saved the best brewery stop for last. 🍺🇫🇷
Our final visit on this incredible @AmaWaterways beer-themed cruise took us to Brasserie du Pays Welche in France’s beautiful Alsace region, and it ended up being our favorite of the trip. The beers were so good we had to bring a couple back to the ship to share with new friends. 🍻✨
The Elsass IPA brought the perfect hop kick, the Framboise balanced fruity sweetness beautifully, and the Blanche layered bright citrus notes over classic wheat flavors.
But the clear winner for both of us? Printemps, their farmhouse ale. Slightly tart, beautifully floral and absolutely bursting with elderflower goodness. 🌼💛 It was one of those beers you keep thinking about long after the glass is empty.
A perfect final brewery visit and the ideal way to toast an unforgettable journey through Europe. 🚢🍺
One of the standout moments onboard AmaLucia: an unforgettable beer-pairing dinner with new friends. 🍻✨
This was easily a highlight of our @amawaterways cruise.
Our cicerone, Ken Smith, curated five fantastic pours to complement an already excellent meal: a crisp Spaten Münchner Hell, iconic Duvel Strong Ale, rich Paulaner Hefe-Weissen Dunkel, Antwerp’s beloved Bolleke, and a tart Kriek from Boon.
That Kriek paired with fancy ice cream? Absolute perfection. 🍒🍨
Every course was elevated by the beer, bringing out flavors we might have missed otherwise. Even better, a couple of these were completely new-to-us beers. That's always one of our favorite parts of traveling and tasting.
Great food, great beer, and great company... the perfect recipe for a memorable night on the river. 🚢🍺
Cologne done right 🇩🇪🍻
Our @amawaterways sailing brought us to the heart of Cologne for a stop at the iconic Gaffel am Dom, one of the most-famous Kölsch houses in the city.
If you know us, you know Kölsch is one of our favorite styles. Light, crisp, and endlessly drinkable, it’s served the traditional way: ice-cold in those perfect little 7-ounce stangs that just keep coming 🍺
We paired our pours with classic bites (potato pancakes + applesauce = YUM), while our cicerone walked us through the rich Kölsch tradition and why Cologne sits at the center of it all.
This stop? An absolute highlight.
Only regret: not staying longer.
Utrecht, you understood the assignment. 🍺🏰
Our first brewery stop on our @amawaterways beer-themed river cruise took us to @brouwerijoudaen , a working brewery tucked inside a centuries-old castle in the heart of Utrecht. Character? Definitely. Beer? Even better.
We kicked things off with their flagship White Oudaen (5%), eased into a surprisingly delightful Champagne beer (also 5%) and finished strong with a hearty Tripel (8.2%).
Consensus: the beer got better with every round, and that Tripel? Something special.
Add in classic Dutch bar snacks and a behind-the-scenes tour of their small brewery setup, and it was the perfect way to launch our European beer adventure.
