I am so very proud to be the winner of the inaugural Libraro Prize. It’s a wonderful platform and I just know it’s going to open doors for many emerging writers, and give readers the chance to help shape which books get published. Check out the Libraro website to find out more-link is in my bio 💚💚💚 #libraro2026 #emergingwriters #bookclubfiction #booklovers

Happy to share that my work has been registered as Human Authored under the @thesocietyofauthors scheme. I haven’t done this because I oppose AI—there’s writers doing some really interesting things with gen-AI—I just want readers to know how I write my books before they buy them. I use AI-powered tools to help with spelling (I’m dyslexic) and to run analysis on my stories, but all the words, plots, characters and em dashes are dragged out of my tea-powered brain 💚💕 #humanauthored #societyofauthors #supportindieauthors #indiebooks

I had one last minute present to buy before I left the UK-scroll to see it. I made a promise to Harriet, the MC in Sheep’s Clothing, that if we won the Libraro Prize, I’d buy her a MilkyWay, just like Jed does in the novel. I know this probably sounds crazy, but to me Harriet is very real. And I am so glad that soon, you’ll all get to know her too. 💙 #libraro2026 #bookclubfiction #maincharacterenergy #emergingwriters

So this happened 🙂 thank you @libraro_books and @hachetteuk what an incredible honour. I’ll write more about the evening and how much this means to me…and a little bit about my winning entry…but for now, I am celebrating with cake and bubbles. Thanks to the judges, Joanne Harris, Deborah Maclaren, Zubs J Malik, Bobby Palmer and Elly Griffiths for feeling as passionately as I do about Harriet and Jed’s story. And to my fellow shortlistees: @bendwrites @natgordonwrites @b.robinson.official @minnock.mary and @tjw_creatingworlds , what incredible company to be in. Each of your novels is unique and compelling and deserves to be shared. I am looking forward to seeing each of them find their audience. #libraro2026 #bookclubfiction #writersdream #bookstagram

On the way to London with @therealmargaretatwood and a cup of Yorkshire Tea. Just what’s needed to calm the nerves ahead of the Libraro Prize announcement tomorrow evening. I’m up against some very good competition, so I don’t expect to win, but the experience of the last few weeks-getting to talk about Harriett’s dilemma in Sheep’s Clothing with so many people-has been a reward in itself. Thank you @libraro_books and @hachetteuk for such a wonderful opportunity. See you tomorrow! #writerslife #bookclubreads #libraro2026

It’s kind of surreal to see a photo of myself taken a few days ago in my Mam’s garden in the North-East of England, accompanying an article about me being shortlisted for the Libraro Prize in my local Queensland newspaper. Thank you for your support @sunshinecoastnews_ 💚 #writerslife #bookclubfiction #libraro2026

I’m staying in my childhood bedroom which hasn’t changed much in 30 years, and every cupboard I open, there’s a box of my books! When I moved to Oz, it was just too expensive to ship them. So it was lovely rediscovering these hardback classics. We didn’t have a lot growing up, but when I was about 11, my dad bought me this book collection where I’d get a book and a magazine about the life and times of the author each month for a year. It was this collection that sparked my everlasting love for Wuthering Heights 💚And wouldn’t you know it, I flicked through and found a childhood bookmark still in its pages 🙂 #bookworm #booksbooksbooks #wutheringheights #literaryclassics

Not a bad first day in the UK…an interview with Claire Rutter at @bbcradionewcastle to talk about the @libraro_books prize and then a walk to blow away the jet lag at Tynemouth Priory…and because no day out is complete without a visit to a bookshop, we took a drive to the incredible @barterbooksuk in Alnwick…which is such an incredible place I’ll be doing a post on some of the gorgeous books we found there🙂 #writerslife #allthebooks #booktalk #booksta
