Happy Thanksgiving!! I wasn’t able to make it home for the holiday so I spent some time with The Greater Chicago Food Depository!
In Chicago, along with hundreds of other cities in the nation, so many families are facing food insecurity, and this team shows up for them every single day. I pulled up to help sort apples… and rediscovered I’m apparently incapable of doing anything quietly 😂
Me and over 100 other volunteers from the area, including some friends I dragged out of bed early in the morning to help me, were able to pack meals for over 10,000 families in just 3 hours! I know sometimes it can feel like your individual help doesn’t make an impact, but it really does!
If you wanna get involved, The Greater Chicago Food Depository (@fooddepository ) has a tool on their website to look up food banks in your area, and Feeding America (@feedingamerica ) has a nationwide tool that will help you find places to volunteer in your local community!
