We recently restored this Neoclassical Mansion to its 1903 glory. The 12,000-square-foot main house and rare carriage house—built for horses, cars, and carriages—have been carefully preserved by Hull Homes & Hull Millwork to last another 100 years. #fortworth #fortworthhistorical #thistlehill #classicalarchitecture #architecturalmillwork #architecturalmillwork #neoclassical #craftsmanship #brenthull

I made a mistake! Now I’m working through some design ideas for the 1940s anti-flip front porch, using traditional building methods to bring back its historic character. Follow along @antiflippers

A 1990s house in Tennessee reworked to feel timeless. Simplified rooflines, intentional window groupings, and a clearer European story.

Brent vs. AI, who did it better? One designed through craft and experience, one by algorithm. You decide.

Industrialized housing doesn’t have to be disposable. Taking a modern apartment complex and infusing it with architectural expression using the principles of rhythm, harmony, and balance.

Fixing an interior inspired by historic design that wasn’t quite working and re-organized the spaces around true architectural principles. When the architecture is prioritized, everything falls into place

Giving this Georgian-style home a little privacy using historically inspired lattice. Proof that when done right, it’s both functional and full of charm.

When a house feels off, it usually is. I shifted the pieces, fixed the symmetry, and gave it a proper French direction.

Hello Denver! I’m looking forward to joining @icaarockymountain tomorrow at the Grant-Humphreys Mansion in Denver. I’ll be lecturing on the research behind my recent book, The Design and Manufacturing of Historic Millwork, 1740–1950. We will trace the evolution of American craftsmanship, from 18th-century bench-built methods to the industrial shifts after WWII. I’ll also be sharing rare 19th-century diagrams from my library to illustrate the vital link between classical proportions and traditional layout. I’ll be available for a book signing and conversation immediately following the lecture. Hope to see our Denver colleagues and friends there! 🗓️ Thursday, April 9 | 5:30 PM 📍 Grant-Humphreys Mansion, Denver 🔗 Registration link in bio/story.

Part 2: Toothpick columns? No way! Adding entasis and a bold entablature brings strength and balance back to the entry. Classical details done right.

Part 1: It’s the hierarchy, the light, the story—proof that getting the windows right changes everything.

There are moments when you realize something extraordinary is happening not just within your own walls, but far beyond them. Collaborations like these, between Our Restoration Nation and Brent Hull can make all the difference for our community. During the Living History Natchez Spring Tour of Homes, we had the profound honor of welcoming voices who are shaping the future of preservation across the country. Among them, @brenthull_ . A master builder, author, and nationally respected authority on historic architecture, Brent is known for his work in period-authentic millwork, window restoration, and the art of building homes that feel as though they have always belonged. His craftsmanship has touched historic institutions and custom homes across the country, and through his books, lectures, and widely followed platforms, he has become a leading voice in reminding us that beauty, proportion, and tradition still matter. To have someone of Brent’s caliber walk our streets, study our homes, and experience Natchez through the lens of Living History that is not something Kevin and I take lightly. Because this is the quiet revolution we believe in. Bringing the very best minds in preservation to places that deserve to be seen, studied, and celebrated. And perhaps most thrilling of all, introducing Natchez to Brent’s vast audience of builders, designers, and preservationists who are hungry for authenticity. The kind you cannot manufacture. The kind that only exists here. This is how stories travel. This is how places endure. This is how Natchez takes her rightful place on the national stage. ✨#ourrestorationnation #savethehousessavethehistory #restoration #history #historichomes
