We don’t talk enough about how debilitating unemployment and financial insecurity can be. The unwarranted shame. The anxiety that comes with waiting for your phone to ding with a lifeline. It is unbelievably demoralizing.
I am relieved and grateful and *excited* about landing in the College of Performing Arts at The New School, in a role that supports and nurtures the next generation of artists, and values (and encourages!) my artistic ambitions.
I’m forever grateful for my partner, family, and friends for supporting me, and affirming my worth when I couldn’t do it for myself. And if you’re reading this and feel similarly overwhelmed and dejected, I see you, and hope your sigh of relief is coming.
