On Saturday I went for an aimless bike ride along the Bay trail. I stopped for lunch and then later on stopped again to spend an hour or so sketching and listening to ambient music. It wasn't intense exercise or anything, but it was so refreshing - I felt like a different person by the time I made it home.
Made it up to the mountains to do some skiing. Had to delay the trip due to snow storms that closed the roads into the Tahoe area. But soon after we arrived, it seemed like half the Bay Area turned up too - it was rammed
This year's batch of homemade Christmas cards - see if you can spot all three of the not-so-obscure cultural references. (Recipient of #2 told me "I don't like that any more")
Went for a mini hike while kid was in piano lesson. Rarely do this as lessons are usually on weekdays so I have to go home and work. Glad I did it today though, this was just what I needed after a few grey, cold, exhausting and rainy days in New York
Flight delay gave me a chance to visit the Women of Afrofuturism exhibition at San Francisco airport, which had sections on Alice Coltrane and Octavia E Butler. Unfortunately the music was twee background elevator ambient, they should have been blasting out "Battle At Armageddon"
Pretty brazen rainbow close to our living room window this morning. First time I've been so close to a rainbow that I could see a parallax shift against the backdrop just from leaning to the side. Not to go all "double rainbow guy" but I did gasp when I first saw it out of the window.
Sometimes San Francisco gets completely encased in a shroud of fog while the rest of the area has blue skies. Today only the tops of the tallest buildings were poking out above the fog, so from some angles it looked like they were floating in the air.
