Still one our favorite pics and fav running clubs! 5 years ago the @mistymountainrunners came out in force for the COVID-edition 2021 race! Not sure if we've got any Misty Mountain Runners this year, but come say hi if you're at the race!
Parking PSA - please read and pass along to your non-social media Breakneck-running friends! Our biggest tip: arrive early!! This is especially true for the 1/2 runners. Overflow parking is about a 1/2-mile semi-uphill walk to the start/bib pick-up. There will also be traffic maneuvering through the camp. All in all, it will take time and the later you arrive, the farther you'll need to walk. To save yourself some stress, allow extra time for parking. Thank you and see you soon!
Amazing run this morning on a beautiful sunny April morning! Thank you to all the runners who came out, and special thanks to Ken, Jason, Vanessa, Greg, Chris, Christian, Jessie, and anyone else I left out who helped me keep everyone more or less on course. See you in a few weeks!
The weather looks great for our upcoming preview run this Saturday at 8 am! Might be warm, so please bring enough fuel and hydration for the full run. Park in the upper lot by the theater at University Settlement Camp in Beacon.
And please familiarize yourself with the route, bonus points if you download it to your watch/phone. Every year a few people veer off-course because they didn’t check the route beforehand or while running. Don’t be that person. We’re doing the half course: /route/2935802?units=miles
Legend. This guy. Not just because Ivan has done every single Breakneck we've held (marathon distance, no less). Not just because he'll lap you if you happen to run into him xc skiing at Minnewaska. Not just because he once showed up 20 minutes late with two poodles to one of our preview runs and still managed to catch up and lead the front group (true story). But also because he helped me with one of the most important tasks of the race: unloading the beer kegs, carrying them like they were filled with helium. Which reminds me, we will once again be featuring the greatest beer in the Hudson Valley: @industrialartsbrewing . If you live nearby, definitely check them out in Beacon or pick-up a 4-pack (or more) at your favorite beer store. And get ready to enjoy post-race!
Well, we are less than two months out and at 80% capacity. Last year we managed to get everyone on the waitlist into the race but that's not usually the case. If you're on the fence or know someone on the fence, giddyup, now's the time to register!
