Turning 39 in our new house in Pittsburgh. I got a “basic” guy haircut yesterday, mostly by accident, and am wishing today for some of the basic elements of a happy life: making new friends, building new community, pursuing creative practices, exploring nature, thawing back into an active and vibrant world.
Yesterday I turned 38. 38 is very round; I endeavor to embody its buoyancy and flexible structure this year. 38 is also like three 3's – two 3's having an intimate face-to-face conversation while a third 3 stands a little ways off, alone, facing the other direction. I'll be each 3 at different points this year, and I am thankful to be able to be the second (or third) 3, with @magiccabaretprojects as the third (or second) 3. I guess the first 3 is probably one of our cats waiting for us to give them food.

I helped make a training video for the Alaska Army National Guard about the historical significance of some of the buildings on their site in Wasilla and how to help preserve them. The buildings used to be part of a correctional facility and school for male youth, called Alcantra; here's a scrapbook that some of those students made, along with a song I made about the site. This is the outro of the training video. With this project, I learned a lot about historic preservation and about editing together a video for other people.
