‘You can cut all your hair, I don’t think they care in New York’ 🌀 The Delirious duo, Karine & Shakolin, share a long-standing connection with the city. After a visit to Signal in Brooklyn last year, the experience felt like home, on and off the dance floor… and here we go: Delirious lands in the big city for the first time.
For this special night, they are joined by @kostaxdb , traveling from Germany - an artist with a true DJ spirit and a deeply inspiring figure for dancers and selectors alike.
Also on the lineup is elusive New Yorker @brchn With decades of experience and a deep record bag, and no digital footprint, his sets can’t be found online - you can only experience them in the moment, on the dance floor.
Bridging the connection between Delirious and Signal, club residents @kurilo_ and @buhler_buhler_ open the night with an extended b2b set.

Feeling immense gratitude for this past couple weeks for all the support and to all the friends who made the trip with me.. major thanks to @novaturient_booking and @faciendo_ for making this possible..
The term ‘DJ’s DJ’ has long since become trite but it captures the essence of NYC's Burchan Acar perfectly.
The huddle of artists around the booth while he played at our last Hoppetosse event was testament to this. There was a tangible buzz after only a few records, yet one built completely organically, purely by word of mouth. The lack of any recorded sets lends considerable mystique to it; there’s a slight dissonance as to how a completely singular presence can leave such a light touch.
His bag refined over decades, Burchan is playing the long game, with the sheer number of hours logged giving his output a stark maturity. Unconcerned with whatever anyone else is up to, he’s quietly carved out an identity of his own that has led to bookings from some of the more discerning promoters around the US.
Any attempt to define his sound feels a touch reductive. Sitting somewhere at the intersection of 90’s prog, techno and house, the unifying quality is often a spacious, playful element to the records, however that only tells part of the story.
While on the subject, it would be remiss not to mention his unconventional backstory. Back in the 90's, as well as working at Temple, Burchan was the full-time record buyer for Danny Tenaglia during his undoubted heyday, silently helping to shape the sound of one of the most influential DJs of his generation.
Tenaglia’s Global Underground: Athens CD felt seminal at the time but viewed through the prism of the modern day scene, it’s evident just how much of a blueprint it laid for where we are today, 25 years on. The US house you’d expect sits next to early Svek records, 2 Right Wrongans and strains of German electro.
You can hear this approach within Burchan’s music: drawing from various scenes and eras, difficult to pigeonhole yet incredibly cohesive and distinctly his own.
Valued member of the Soundsystem, one of our absolute favourite DJs and his first time in the UK - this Friday at the Lion & Lamb. Promotional posts aside, we ask for your trust on this one - it's really worth making the effort for.
Among the crew for our Oct 17th party at @hoppetosse.berlin is Burchan, a restless digger and storyteller weaving hypnotic grooves with subtle intensity. His sets move between shadow and light, always immersive, always searching for the unexpected.
