There’s a guy called Lucas who I know from the Safari Lounge. I think he’s Ukrainian himself, but he wants to start a Polish-language pub quiz in Edinburgh and maybe Glasgow.
He was telling me about it last night at the Percy. You never know - it might just work.
I tried learning Polish once on Duolingo (My grandad was a Pole, so I’ve got the vibes) but didn’t get too far with it. Tricky as hell.
I have done better with Greek but after 1200-odd days of “streak” I’ve finally lost patience with Duolingo and its relentless bullying. All the angry red-faced owl icons and so so on. It’s not cool. Away, ya mad owl. Leave me alone.
So I’m purposefully letting the streak go. And in any case, it hasn’t worked. More than three years of Duloingo Greek and I’m still only at the stage of overhearing Greeks on the bus and making out SOME words from the conversation.
Without deeper study, it’s more or less useless, I reckon.
Anyway, re. the quiz I don’t keep “streak” figures for you. Come to the quiz? I’m happy. Miss a week? Fine - I’ll see you next week.
Just one more reason why DP Quiz is better than Duolingo.
