If you think you would you enjoy the variety and challenges of working in a hostel for former rough sleepers and homeless people, read on.
You may have experience of working in a similar organisation, or you may be looking for something completely different. Or, you may be thinking about applying to join our Casual Bank Worker Team for work experience as a first or second job.
Whatever the reason for applying, it’s important you bring a positive, ‘can-do’ attitude to your work and you must be able to communicate clearly and in a non-judgemental way with people living in Branches hostel 😊
When you join our Casual Bank Team no two days are the same. That means you will be doing a variety of jobs to help us keep Branches Hostel running smoothly. You will need to be flexible and able to carry out duties assigned. Duties while on an assignment will vary. You may be taking donations and storing them, answering telephone calls, or dealing with hostel residents’ queries and requests. You will be working alongside our permanent Support Staff Team, Reception/Admin, Facilities Staff and Night Concierges.

With a poem displayed at the exhibition at Pulse & Pickles, he expressed his passion and shared the profound insights gained from Emma's workshop. This May, we’re excited to launch a special drive to collect hand towels for our residents. Normally, when new guests arrive at Branches, we’re proud to provide them with a basic hygiene pack that includes toiletries and towels—essentials that help them settle in comfortably.
Unfortunately, we’re facing a shortage of towels this month, and we need your help! We encourage everyone to donate new or gently used hand towels to ensure our newcomers receive the warm welcome they deserve. Please drop off your donations at the reception by the end of the month – every little bit of support counts, and we appreciate it.

April blossomed into a month filled with vibrant creativity and connection. We celebrated the joy of expression during our exhilarating open mic session, where poetry and stories flowed freely. Our minds were engaged through captivating writing workshops and intricate puzzles, fuelling our passion for innovation.
In Tai Chi, we found harmony and tranquillity, uniting our spirits and fostering a sense of community. Our taste buds delighted in the special Jollof rice and delicious banana cake, which brought us together through shared experiences.
In moments of gratitude, we shared Pixie Love by expressing our appreciation with delightful chocolates, strengthening our bonds. Our donation drive for bedding exemplified our commitment to uplifting one another, reminding us of the power of creating a sense of normalcy in the midst of the challenges of homelessness.
Laughter filled the air during our lively bingo games, fostering joy and camaraderie. Our staff and strategy meetings sparked productive conversations about growth and vision. With every gathering accompanied by an abundance of food and refreshments, we nurtured not just our bodies but our connections.
Amidst all the activity, we paused to reflect on our achievements and aspirations. April became a powerful reminder of the strength found in community, creativity, and collaboration.

We are always clear from the start about embracing the meaningful use of time as a core value at our branches. From the sign-up stage of someone moving into Branches, we put an emphasis on the fact that they must be ready or willing to engage and grow with us. But if that doesn’t align with someone's goals and stage in their life journey, we completely understand that branches may not be the right fit —and that’s perfectly okay!
