ROTATE for Maximum Effect!
Absolutely LOVED creating this video project with @ggnchan of @doublechickenpleasenyc for @50bestbars + @theworlds50best last year.
GN is such a lovely, inspired and down to earth human and so generous with his time and energy!
Wishing you even more success in the near future!
Andalucía — where a slow sweetness overtakes you in marvelous color and aroma: red clay earth baked in the sun, freshly grilled octopus tendrils waft in salty caramelized smoke, deep earthy paella, and tangy crisp white wines. The mood is tender and melancholic and also calm and festive. A fox trots along with feral cats, dogs relax at beach front bars, and the sun sets over acoustic guitar chords and lively chatter.
I met @chef_nicholas_poulmentis on assignment for @edible.communities #Queens edition (sadly now defunct) and was welcomed into his space with such warmth and genuine hospitality that we felt like old friends as he regaled me with stories of his native Greek island life and anecdotes about serving elevated Greek food in NYC.
That kind of charisma and geniality is rare in this world, especially in the cut-throat machismo world of high-end restaurants. I shared stories of my youth in Queens neighborhoods and tasted Greek wines with him.
As he embarks on yet another milestone, his soon-to-open @kythira_np in NYC, we wish him all the success and joy as he continues to bring new eyes and tastebuds to his marvelous cuisine.
Γεια στα χέρια σου!

“There are no strangers here; only friends you haven’t met yet.” – W.B. Yeats
A true Irish pub feels warm and embracing on a cold night, and fresh and convivial on a spring day. The deep polished wood gleams and the tap pours silky heads of Guinness. The bar staff are friendly but not saccharine, genuine is the word most commonly used. There can be high spirits at times and solemn quietude when needed. A solitary guest at the bar can read in peace or a rambunctious group can celebrate a football goal. It’s something tangible from the old country transported across the pond to our fair metropolis where everyone feels welcome.
Thank you to the wonderful team at Brass Monkey for all you do!

One more throwback to the @foodwinedenver presented by @corestaurants
Shaking off the winter hibernation with a flashback to summer — crisp bubbles and salty snacks, the damned near friendliest chefs and sommeliers you’ll ever meet, hard ciders and oaky whiskey, sweets to beat the heat, and cool confections… can’t wait for this summer again!

Taking pride in your labor of love can never be overstated — nor can access to fresh and healthy food. So many of our communities and cities struggle to feed their families in debating food deserts. As commodities get more expensive it’s even more dire to support farmers, producers, food banks, food pantries, neighbors, and our future.

The sun is shining over a crisp smokey sky as we roll past the looming range. In Boulder, big blooms, heavy heirlooms, purple okra, and giggling kids creat the scene… coffee aromas wafting over buttery pastry stands. Jovial vendors arrange hearty greens and sugary peaches. Cool mountain air mixes with September sun, ice pops and baskets of berries. Feels like every season of joy combined into one.

Last Looks at Hector’s Diner - marking the end of an era in food + community in @meatpackingny
Part III
Hector’s Diner, which closed midsummer 2025, marked the conclusion of the old “Meatpacking” days in the district.
Vinyl stools and Formica countertops, furious frenzy of sizzle and sides being pushed out of the tiny short order kitchenette, a nod here and there, lone Meatpacker ordering a burger…
The tales those walls could tell. Secrets and stories over bagged lunches, icy sodas, and chiclets.
RIP Hector’s and bless those that spent the better part of a few decades keeping it going.
