One week down in Malaysia and I'm obsessed.
Kuala Lumpur is a melting pot that throws everything at you at once, different cultures layered so deeply that you could spend a lifetime here and still not reach the bottom.
Afternoons spent in malls so luxurious they feel like another world, and nights in markets so alive they swallow you whole. Singing karaoke over liquor you can't buy anymore and eating the best food of my life from a plastic bag at the side of a road.
It has been a privilege to have my beautiful partner @summerooii share these experiences with me, walking me through corners of this city that carry memories and meaning I would never have stumbled into alone.
Anthony Bourdain said it better than I ever could:
"If I'm an advocate for anything, it's to move. As far as you can, as much as you can. Across the ocean, or simply across the river. The extent to which you can walk in someone else's shoes or at least eat their food, it's a plus for everybody.
Open your mind, get up off the couch, move."
More photos to come, but here's a start.

I've barely had time to breathe these past few months, let alone take photos - but here's some pics from a little walk around @montsalvatartscentre with @summerooii πͺ΄
I'm starting to find my style, which ChatGPT describes as "quiet spaces, overlooked details, and the traces people leave behind". Sounds much more poetic than "close-ups of cool stuff lying around".

Cherry Blossoms with the @melbwalkandshootgroup πΈ
In the 1980's, the Japanese Prime Minister brought 100 of these trees to Victoria as a gift. Today, they're looked after by a group of Japanese-born volunteers protecting their culture and heritage.
(and me, who hammered in the 'keep off' signs. π)

Exploring the Ripponlea estate during my first photography meetup (fun!)
I wanted to capture the atmosphere and ambience of being within the mansion and seeing room upon room filled with historical mementos and keepsakes. This meant focusing in on the details that told the story of each occupying family.
It's so great to be around other (and much better) photographers. If anyone ever wants a buddy while out shooting - hit me up! π€
