These days, I’m focused on making music with one purpose — to tell the truth, give hope, and mirror the life I’ve lived and the life I’m still living. My music is for the DREAMERS, the FIGHTERS, and the FEELERS. To the true fans and everyone who cares to listen… My forthcoming EP embodies all of this. I am a Simple Man.

Some boys learn to run before they even know what they’re running from. I wrote about Lagos, speed and what happens when the running stops. New essay on Substack. Link in bio. It’s onetime baby. Brainee baby.

One thing I’m grateful for, above everything, is that my fans, friends and fam stuck with me through this journey. I’m grateful to all of you who have been here from CHAPTER 1 EP (2019), YABA STATE OF MIND EP (2022) and are still here for what’s next. Which era introduced you to Brainee? SIMPLE, May 28.

The simple man doesn’t need noise to exist. He just needs to show up. I stepped back for a while. Felt like disappearing at first then realized I was just getting quiet. There’s a difference. And the ones who are still here after all that silence, you already know what this is.

As someone who used to have abandonment issues, I learnt what the absence of the people I held dear to me made me believe about myself. I shared this truth with you on my Substack. Link on my bio 💚 Special thanks to @chroniclesofhers for sparking this conversation.

Nobody tells you that the fear has nothing to do with them. It becomes about what their leaving confirms about you. And that is the part nobody wants to sit with. I have been thinking about abandonment issues. Not the way people usually talk about it, but from the root. From the place where self-love has not arrived yet. This is the beginning of that conversation. I got inspired by a video by @chroniclesofhers and I wrote something about it. I’ll be posting on my Substack tomorrow morning. Subscribe via the LINK IN MY BIO to be the first to read it when it drops. 💚

One of the best books I ever came across is Steal Like an Artist. It really changed how I see things. I’ve realized “Art” doesn’t always mean creating something new. Sometimes it’s just noticing what everyone else has been walking past. That’s where the real stories are hiding. Recently I told myself my job isn’t to impress you. It’s to make you look twice at things you’ve already experienced. It’s Onetime Baby 💚

My friend @moreniikee_ spent months painting what Lagos Developers forgot and I spent a few days writing about why it matters. The breeze block. The open compound. The buildings that actually breathed. We had an architecture that thought about the body inside it. Then we stopped without any conversation. It just happened. Swipe through. Full essay on my Substack. Link in bio. 💚 Her works are available. Some things deserve to live on your wall.

Fellow Nigerian, Friends and Strangers, anyday we choose to wake up is our “Good Morning.” I’m sincerely tired of living like this. I sincerely still believe in this country 💚

If you pay attention, you’ll realize noise is mostly rewarded these days. Staying dedicated to your personal growth doesn’t need an audience or an applause, keep building. It’s Onetime baby, Brainee baby 💚

In Ozoro, Delta State, yesterday, women were sexually assaulted in the street. In broad daylight. During a festival. And the men that did it were not old men trapped in tradition. They were young men. Our own generation. The ones that are supposed to know better. I don’t know if we are paying attention to what we are building. But I think we should talk about it.
