This coast is special. For many of us it’s our 3rd space. It’s a huge reason we all love living here at the coast and across the greater Newcastle & Gateshead area.
Hundreds of thousands of us love it, it’s a daily or weekly part of our lives whatever the whether. Walks, people watching, surfing, kiting, swimming, taking the dogs out, a wine on the beach, a bakery, coffee, breakfast, lunch, dinner, a beer.
Date nights, swim clubs, run clubs, pubs, festivals, donuts, fish and chips. T shirt tans and ice cream vans. Family time with parents, with kids.
Whatever it is, the support local businesses get from the community around us who champion what we all do along the coast is so important to how we all enjoy where we live.
It’s sad and shocking to see how some people treat it with such disregard.
We must continue to love it, respect it and protect it.
Lead by example where we can, support the area however you are able, have the conversations, hopefully we can work with local authorities and groups and the wider community to keep this place as magical as it is.
