Melle Phillips, Show Supervisor of the 2025 Off-Broadway production, reflects on how refreshing it was to see Caribbean stories authentically represented on stage. In a city filled with Caribbean voices and talent, productions like All We a One create space for those stories to be shared through music, culture, and community.
Presented by the Braata Singers, All We a One – A Caribbean Choral Experience blends diasporic genres like soca, reggae, calypso, gospel, and more to celebrate the spirit, history, and unity of the Caribbean people.

The Karabela Dress is the national costume of Haiti, embodying the elegance and resilience of Haitian women. Originally daily wear in the 18th century, it has evolved into a symbol of pride worn for folk dances, weddings, and national holidays.
Today, designers reinterpret the Karabela for the runway, using high-fashion fabrics like taffeta and organza. It remains a "badge of honor" for the diaspora, connecting generations to their Caribbean heritage.

This Mother’s Day, I pay tribute to every mother, mother figure, grandmother, guardian, and caregiver, especially those who are grieving, healing, or missing the mom they love.
I didn’t grow up with the best relationship with my own mother, and this song was born from that history we shared. It’s about the imperfections, the distance, and the longing for a connection that may not have fully existed, but somehow still grows with me into the man I’d hope she wants me to be.
Mama, I Miss You, from the “I Believe EP”, out Now on all streaming platforms.
Stay tuned this Friday for the Lyric Breakdown.

Bandi is a gritty 2026 French-language crime drama series on Netflix set in Martinique, focusing on 11 orphaned siblings fighting for survival and unity following their mother's death. Created by Éric and Capucine Rochant (The Bureau), the eight-episode series explores themes of loyalty, poverty, and gang activity.
Many leads, like trap artist Evil P (Patrick Trieste) and various young actors aged 8–24, were non-professionals discovered through a year-long local casting search.
Using local actors ensures the "unfiltered Caribbean lens" that viewers are praising.
