Manahuu, we have entered the Irrigation Season (April 1st-October 31st)! 💧
Grazing lots are being irrigated, gardens and yards are being fertilized, runoff is occurring, temperatures are increasing, and swimming in the creeks is looking desirable. But also, the WQCP is ramping up our bacteria monitoring to make sure it is healthy for your recreation! Visit our EMO website to see weekly updates.
As we enter this season we want to make sure you’re informed—please read through these slides for important updates and information. As always feel free to contact us for further information or for any questions, thank you.

❄️ Winter wonderland in the @bpt_cosa ! ❄️
Former Environmental Director, Brian, decided to take the fun way to work today through the COSA and captured these amazing photos of our little wetland! ⛷️
If you plan to visit the COSA, make sure you are prepared for the snowy conditions and stay on the main trail. The COSA is filled with endemic plant species and ditch systems that are currently covered by snow, so be careful and stay safe when you're out exploring.
Tag us or send us photos of your COSA adevntures!
POSTPONED!
Hello friends!
What a lovely day on the Bishop Paiute Reservation! Hope you're enjoying this snowy day as much as we are!
Unfortunately, due to safety concerns related to snowy parking areas and frozen ground conditions, we’ve decided to postpone tonight’s EMO Open House. Given that the event was scheduled for the evening, we want to prioritize everyone’s safety and avoid any risks associated with the weather.
We’re currently working to reschedule the event and will share the new date and details as soon as they’re confirmed. Thank you for your understanding, and stay safe! ❄️❄️❄️
Hello everyone! It’s been a while, but we’re out of hibernation and thrilled to reconnect with the community. Join us next Wednesday, February 18th, at the EMO Open House at the Cultural Center from 5–7 PM!
🍽️ Enjoy some snacks and light refreshements!
💬 Chat with us about your environmental concerns (on and off the reservation)...
👥 Meet our amazing team and learn about open positions in EMO...
🌟 Or just come hang out with awesome folks who care deeply about our relatives and the environment!
We can’t wait to see you there! 🌿
Our 2025 Benthic macroinvertebrates (BMI) survey was a success! Three days of walking both forks of Bishop Creek and Big Pine Creek collecting data and BMI (or bugs) to better understand our water quality. This is everyones favorite time of year... being outside with colleagues, enjoying nature, and supporting each other. Excited to see what the results show!
Thanks to all that participated in the Stream Team... See you all next year. 💧🌳☀️
🎶 Explosions in the Sky 🎶
EMO Emergency Prepareness training! WQCP staff demonstrated the deployment of our underflow dam in the case of an oil spill emergency threatening the creek or other waterways. The Bishop Paiute Tribe hosts one of the few emergency trailers available in the area. This equipment is also made available for other entities to use in the chance of an emergency outside of the reservation. Contact the Tribe's Water Quality Coordinator for more information. 🦫💧
Tuba Nuga (Pine Nut Dance) this Thursday evening at the Cultural Center will begin with a community feed & potluck at 6pm. Circle dance celebrating the beginning of the pine nut season will begin at 7.
