San Ildefonsoâs DUGs (Dads, Uncles, Grandpas) group joined our monthly Native American Educator and Parent Advisory Committee (NAEPAC) meeting held at Santo Domingo Es/Ms was an awesome engagement! The DUGs discussed how they formed and their why! They discussed how male engagement is important not only for our children but for building support for males in our communities. They showcased that you can do all the âmanlyâ things but also show vulnerability which also takes strength! Thanks to all the community members who came out for some good food and there were three raffle winners! Join us January 12th at Cochiti Es for our next NAEPAC MEETING! We will be joined by the Junior Achievement of NM to discuss financial planning for college and career! See you there and bring a friend! Thanks to @coderedhuntingllc and the DUGs! Also, thanks to Dr Little Gardiner at SD for hosting us!
2025 Fall BPS Tribal Leadership Summit was a success. The purpose of our Tribal Leadership Summit is to not only fulfill our obligation for Tribal Consultation, but to engage in meaningful dialogue with the 7 Pueblos we serve directly, as well as community members from those Pueblos. A large number of our BPS District Administration, as well as all five Board of Education members, were engaged! Over the course of two days, a lot of information was shared, and voices were heard. There were key action items that were developed utilizing the voice of all participants! We look forward to the reciprocal heart work that will emerge from this, and we encourage all BOS Students and families to get involved! Your voices are critical! Special thanks to the Governors and Lt Governors from Cochiti, San Felipe, Sandia, and Santo Domingo for their presence. We would also like to thank partners from Senator Navaâs staff and Future Focused Education for attending. Lastly, thanks to Regis Pecos and Teran Villa for their support and expertise. #native #spartans #bps #education

BPS INDIAN EDUCATION held a Listening Session: Learning from Our Communities! Director Vigil along with co-presenters Daphne Littlebear and Dr. Leola Paquin presented and actively listen to community on two main topics, IED CULTURAL COMPETENCY INITIATIVE AND NEEDS ASSESSMENT! We held two sessions, shared food, and shared our experiences with education! It was powerful and reminded me of the power of community! We ended the day with the two most powerful presentations by two elementary youth! It reminded me of how we as Natives learn, we learn by seeing and doing. The three youth stated: âWe must be proud of who we are, Itâs in our Blood, thatâs what makes me proud to be Native Americanâ, and âWhat I like about being Native because I like dancing for âpahshkâ and my birthdayâ, and my fave âFrancis is the best!â (Really I needed thatâŠ) it was an amazing day and we look forward to more community engagements! Donât forget to join us for NAEPAC meetings the second Monday of the month! #native #nativeeducation #indianeducation #bpsied
NM PED GOVERNMENT TO GOVERNMENT Meeting on Wednesday, June 11 was a good convening. It was great see education colleagues, friends, stakeholders and tribal leaders, as well as the State education agencies! Superintendent Montaño discussed and highlighted the BPS INDIAN EDUCATIONâs TRIBAL CONSULTATION processes along with Governor Armijo from Santa Ana Pueblo. We are shifting the way that Tribal Consultation is provided through intentional and reciprocal engagement. Lastly, the Indian Education invited our Native American Educator and Parent Advisory Committee Chair, Sheldon Crespin, and Vice-Chair, Nayeli Lucero, to learn more about the G2G process and dialogue. We look forward to taking the information back to our district! #native #nativeeducation #bps #indianeducation #nm
