#45friday Friday The 13th Pt 3 Theme Song
(Gramavision, 1982) composed by Henry Mandredini and Michael Zager under a fictional group named Hot Ice. A funk-driven, 1980s electronic disco song featuring heavy basslines, synthesizer riffs, with an upbeat tempo. The theme was included on releases of the film’s soundtrack, and according to Manfredini, became popular at disco and gay clubs at the time. Manfredini did the scores for all of the Friday the 13th movies and a bunch of other slasher films 🔥🔪
Sidenotes:
•The trademark Jason hockey mask did not appear until Friday The 13th Pt 3.
•It’s actually “ki ki ki, ma ma ma,” derived from the line “Kill her, mommy!” in Friday the 13th, but most people hear it as “ch ch ch, ha ha ha” due to distortion, with the composer whispering “kill” and “ma” into a microphone.
Upcoming record sales for this week and next week. Starting tomorrow night i’ll be popped up from 7-11pm @_ninetythreetil with the gang. New and improved crates. Hmu
Man, I always wondered how they got the little background noises in Survival of the Fittest. I think Mobb Deep were the first to sample Kashmere Stage Band some years before Handsome Boy help put them on the map. It’s crazy that a copy of Zero Point (with fewer than a thousand copies pressed, and most of them in Houston) wound up in Queens and in the hands of Havoc and Prodigy/ their family record collections. I love learning the little back stories and seeing the process of how some of my favorite records were made. Notice the two different samples from two different songs that were used. 💫
This Saturday I’ll be selling records at the Milam Street Block Party in front of @allthefeelsshop from 3-7pm
