Hello art lovers
Earlier this year I was in Cape Town, moving around, visiting galleries, and traveling with an art collector
That’s where I came across this incredible work by Phillip Richard Jannecke-Newman
@boytchie_
I ended up collecting two strong pieces from him
BOYTCHIE
FINDERS KEEPERS II, 2026
Oil, enamel and bitumen on wood
122 x 89 x 7 cm
And
BOYTCHIE
WORK CAMP, 2026
Oil, enamel and bitumen on wood
122 x 100 x 15 cm
I saw them at Everard Read Gallery
@everard_read_cape_town_
They were presented on the wall, and instantly it felt right
Like they belong together
For me, how a work lives in space matters a lot
That visible connection, that feeling when pieces speak to each other
That’s a big part of why I collect
So… welcome to the collection
Boytchie is a contemporary artist working across painting, drawing, and sculpture
Drawing is really the base of everything he does
From there he moves into painting, installation, even film
His studio feels like a playground
A space to experiment, push, and test limits
You see it in the work
Bold marks, strong colours, raw energy
There’s something intense in it
It sits between tragic and comic
Between chaos and control
He’s talking about real things
Hustle culture, pressure, greed, violence
That constant noise we live in today
And how after a while, people get numb to it
He grew up in Kuils River, Cape Town
And you can feel that environment shaping the work
Strong voice, strong energy
Welcome to the collection
