So... bit of info on this one.
In 2024 I went on a journey to find lab that could deliver the highest quality scans with consistent development and someone that offered large size TIFFs for a cost effective price that would allow me to send in 40+ rolls at a time. After doing copious amounts of research, I landed on Nice Film Club. Boy oh boy, words cannot express how pleased I was with the quality of their scans. They offered 4k hi res scans for $11 a roll with the ability to unlock individual frames at their 4k hi resolution for $1 a frame. Talk about a deal. We've all gotten scans back and identified a few frames out of the roll that deserved to be presented in as hi definition as possible, and so their ability to unlock those individual frames for $1 a frame really fit into my needs and I exploited that option every chance I got.
Fast forward a year and after some tense conversations surrounding some mistakes on their part (ruining the first frame of every roll for 26 rolls straight) and my shortcomings as far as respectful conversation, my lab broke up with me and left me sad and emotionally wrecked.
Now what... where am I going to get that same quality at that price?
Fast forward a year... The Darkroom Lab in San Clemente came into view, and I decided to give them a try.
Nah fam. JPEGs ain't it. 25mb file sizes left me disappointed and overall pretty fuckin flacid.
No disrespect to The Darkroom Lab, they have the fastest turn around, free shipping, and a easy to navigate interface for file delivery, but that's about it.
So, after this 3 day trip with my boy
@bobobaggins11
to Monument Valley, I yet again was on the hunt to find a quality lab that could deliver those bangin ass scans with large TIFFs at an affordable price.
I needed a lab that uses the Noritsu HS1800.
Indie Film Lab in Montgomery Alabama does just that and offers uncorrected scans for $21 in TIFF files. So... alas, I present to you, the best frame from my test role sent out to them to see if they are about it. Needless to say, they're about it. 🤙🤙
@indiefilmlab
Last frame is raw, straight out of the 1800, no edit. Cheers to you Indie. Thank you. ❤️
