On Saturday, May 9, more than 170 attendees gathered for the dedication of the Benjamin W. Hill-Lam ‘13 Observatory—a beautiful tribute to a Bowdoin alum, rocket fuel engineer, and beloved friend. Made possible by a generous gift from his father, Seeyan Lam, this state-of-the-art facility is exactly what President Safa Zaki described: “What you have given Bowdoin is a threshold. A place where students can stand at the edge of what is known and feel the pull of what is not. That is, in the deepest sense, what a college is for.”

More than 230 students and supporters gathered in Barry Mills Hall on May 7 for the annual Lunch with Six Supporters—an event President Safa Zaki calls “one of the most meaningful gatherings of the year.” The celebration brought together students, alumni, trustees, families, and friends to honor Bowdoin’s deep commitment to financial aid and access.
Featured speaker Aziza Janmohamed ‘19 reflected on the generosity that makes life-changing opportunities possible for students around the world. “Bowdoin is one of the only schools in the country that is need-blind in its admissions review for international students,” she said. “This is another tangible way that Bowdoin extends the common good to those around them.”

One of our most integral partners on campus, Lindsey Lessard is an amazing supporter of our athletic programs, leading numerous athletics-alumni initiatives throughout the year. Lindsey is the point person for the Athletic Hall of Honor Ceremony and the Bowdoin Invitational Golf Tournament, both enormous undertakings, as well as numerous other on-campus athletics reunions and celebrations throughout the year. We quite simply would not be able to maintain the deep, meaningful connections with our alumni without her tireless, and always cheerful support. #GoUBears #PolarAwards @bowdoinalumni
