A big thank you to the Ottawa Construction Association for hosting another excellent Symposium today. Bourgon’s President, Chris Markell, joined fellow industry leaders Shawn Berube of HEIN and Mat Baranowski of PCL Construction to discuss the key challenges currently facing General Contractors across Eastern Ontario.
Moderated by Allessandro Guarna of McDonald Brothers Construction and supported by the General Contractors Association of Ottawa, the panel explored critical topics including health and safety, tariffs, supply chain complexities such as new Buy Ontario and Buy Canada mandates, recent changes to the Construction Act, and how AI is being integrated into the industry.
Completion of Village Green in Napanee, ON - an 84,000 sq. ft., two-storey, 128-bed long-term care and assisted living facility. The project included communal spaces, dining areas, offices, as well as full site servicing and landscaping.
We appreciate the opportunity to work with OMNI Healthcare Limited and G architects on another project.

Congratulations to John DeVries on receiving the Ethics & Integrity Award at the General Contractors of Ottawa’s Annual Spring Cocktail event on Wednesday evening. A well-deserved recognition of John’s leadership and lasting impact within the industry.
John has been a dedicated member of the construction industry for over 40 years, retiring last month from the role of President and General Manager of the Ottawa Construction Association.
Wishing Jeremy Hansen and the rest of the flight crew the best of luck tonight on the Artemis II mission 🚀
If the launch is successful, Jeremy will become the first Canadian ever to leave Earth’s orbit — a major milestone for our country. An incredibly inspiring moment for all Canadians, especially young people interested in technical trades, engineering, and the future of innovation.
Jeremy is from Ingersoll, Ontario, and completed his Bachelor’s and Master’s degrees in science at RMC in Kingston. From there, he went on to become a fighter pilot in the Canadian Forces and is now a member of the Canadian Space Agency.

✨Meet Audree✨
Audree was a recipient of Bourgon’s 2025 Bursary program and has joined us as she explores her career in construction. We are proud to be supporting her as she takes her next steps toward a career in carpentry, building her skills and gaining experience along the way.
Our bursary program supports students with a passion for the construction industry by providing financial assistance as they pursue qualifications relevant to the construction industry at college, university, or trade school, with the goal of contributing to the sector’s continued growth and development.
Applications for our 2026 bursary program will open at the start of April for students in Eastern Ontario. Students interested in applying should speak with their high school guidance counsellor for an application or contact Bourgon directly for more information.
We had the pleasure of attending the Boys and Girls Club speaker dinner last night in Kingston - thank you to BGC South East for a great evening.
