If you’re unsure how to brew it, start by doing a cupping at home. That way, you’ll realise just how much potential the coffee has. The good thing about cupping at home is that no one stands in front of a cup for ages, and no one is wearing overpowering perfume. The Ethiopian hybrid washed ‘Alo Chilaka’ from the Parisian roastery @tanat.coffee was actually roasted a touch darker than I prefer. But it was also an omni-roast profile. Nevertheless, fruity notes of peach and black tea came through nicely. I’ll definitely be trying some of Tanat’s specific filter roasts again as soon as possible. What’s your take on omni roasts? Are they often too dark for filter brews, and has the trend towards ultra-light roasts spoiled me for good? ☕️👃🏼🥄👅🧡 #boschcoffee #tanat

We’re always waiting for the very freshest crop, but @kolocoffee.eu ’s ‘Duwancho’ from the 2025 harvest is still incredibly vibrant. Even though there are some well-known online coffee reviewers who find washed Ethiopian coffees too boring to even review, I really love the classic flavour profile of this coffee from the Sidama region. A touch of citrus, floral, light, tea-like. If I had to choose just one type of coffee, it would probably be very much along these lines. (By the way, the current Rwanda from Kolo Coffee in Berlin is also absolutely fantastic. Definitely worth a try!) ☕️🇪🇹☀️❤️ #boschcoffee #kolocoffee

A music pavilion on the waterfront in Sassnitz, Rügen. Dietmar Kuntzsch drew it, Ulrich Müther built it in 1988 — seven concrete shells arranged like an opening hand, each barely more than a few centimetres thick, no formwork, sprayed directly onto a wire mesh frame. The two flanking service buildings with their round windows look like something off a ferry. The whole thing sits eight metres from the Baltic, has been listed since 2014, and is considered an icon of East German modernism. It looks like it arrived from somewhere else entirely.

Everything feels new in May. New coffee, new dripper, new grinder. The “Sidama Arbegona Masincho Premium” from Shanghai-based @bigsurcoffeeroastery is ultra-light roasted and delights with delicious notes of classic citrus with fresh green tea and jasmine. You shouldn’t let the colour codes on the packaging guide you, but the green tea in particular comes through beautifully. Although I must admit I am not the biggest tea lover, I really enjoy these nuances, especially in Ethiopian coffees. Every cup of this fresh harvest from producer @testispecialtycoffee is a real pleasure. Many thanks as well to @coffee_nerd_hd , who always scouts the very best coffees for his shop. After trying probably 30 different drippers over the past 15 years, I’ve now reached a sort of full circle moment with the Hario V60 01 in ceramic. Since I mostly brew 12–15 grams of coffee at home at the moment, I was very surprised to find that the smaller version gives me more control over and flow rate. More on that soon. Also new in my setup is the @pietrogrinders hand grinder with 58 mm diameter ProBrewing burrs. I’ve already ground around 3 to 4 kg of coffee. The first seasoning is done, and now it’s time for fine-tuning. I’ll keep you posted! ☕️🇪🇹💚 #boschcoffee #bigsurcoffee #coffeenerdhd #hariov60 #pietrogrinder

Wilson Alba · Sierra Morena · Pink Bourbon · Washed Colombia, 2nd harvest — roasted by @seycoffee , New York.
Hand-picked at peak ripeness, dry-fermented, dried on raised beds for 30 days — @wilsonalba98 has been working this land in Las Mercedes, Palestina, Huila for 15 years, and the complexity in the cup reflects every bit of that dedication. @seycoffee roasts exceptionally light, letting the coffee speak for itself. Berry compote, lemon zest, hibiscus — a profile that keeps unfolding with every sip.
The roast style and transparency @seycoffee brings — detailed pricing, processing notes, producer background — sets a standard that's hard to match. Worth the transatlantic trip? Probably yes. Though Europe's roaster scene is closer than ever.
A friend was kind enough to pick this up for me at @juicy.project in Hamburg — a shop that curates its lineup with real care. Still working through the bag, and not in any rush. Every cup is a pleasure ☕️❤️❤️❤️ #boschcoffee #seycoffee #juicyproject
