One of the Philippines’ first 3D anamorphic video art installations is now on a billboard!
It’s one of the first billboards of its kind in the country featuring “art for art’s sake,” with no commercial strings attached.
In the moving image, the artist’s character stands against a backdrop of blue skies, passing clouds, lush fields, and mountain ranges. His character releases three sparrows from his outstretched palms. The birds circle and multiply, growing in number. The figure moves into a powerful stance as a sparrow rushes toward the viewer, seemingly beyond the screen before it fades to black.
The project, launched in August, elevates the site into more than an ad space. Featuring the painting of renowned artist Elmer Borlongan (@emongsky ), the installation art is also a gesture of VLink’s appreciation for the iconic billboard site, which has been a 12-year partnership with Robinsons Land Corporation.
Inspired by a painting of renowned artist Elmer Borlongan, this 3D interpretation (no special glasses needed) conveys messages of love for country and stewardship of nature.
The installation on Robinsons Galleria (EDSA-Ortigas intersection) is visible to daily commuters and overseas Filipino workers visiting the nearby POEA office, with the chosen location aiming to inspire and uplift.
The digital artwork plays every 5 minutes and will run perpetually.
