"The plants are beautiful, the dirt is beautiful." HAPPY EARTH DAY! Border Kindness has been honored to work alongside agricultural workers in the Imperial, Coachella and Mexicali Valley(s) since 2018. Coachella Fest is over for the year, but days of brutal work go on for the brave people who plant, grow, harvest and nurture the food so many of us eat. EARLY morning on Friday, April 10th, the festival's opening day our staff was with workers in the fields as the sun rose. We talked about the hype of Coachella, the earth, the pesticides (danger) and the daily brutality of trying to work, to live, to survive. One worker told us he focused on the plants, the dirt, the purity and BEAUTY of the plants and the dirt that can often be buried under the chemicals and cruelty. As the weather gets warmer those working need more assistance; safe clothing, water, sunscreen, hats, and more. Now that the noise and music have ended, If you would like to help the workers growing your food please share our posts, and donate as you are able! Border Kindness is beyond grateful to @somoselcine and @midnightbooksla for putting this amazing event together - a BACKPACK DRIVE and HOLLYWOOD HOME MOVIES NIGHT - it happens THIS SUNDAY, APRIL 26 from 100pm to 500pm at @midnightbooksla in Los Angeles! Before Migrant Head Start students leave for the summer Border Kindness provides the parents with everything the kids need to start public school in the fall! Gather this Sunday at Midnight Books to watch home movies, pack, share, donate and support migrant families. Items needed include sturdy 17" backpacks, notebooks, pencils, crayons and glue sticks! Border Kindness is humbled by the generosity, grace and kindness of @oceanpalacesandiego ! Each holiday season Ocean Palace collects and shares thousands of toys + gifts with Border Kindness and other local orgs! @borderkindness gives these toys to parents to give their children during the holidays! Ocean Palace helps everyone and asks nothing in return - if a family needs gifts or food Ocean Palace steps up. This past holiday season was especially difficult for so many and Border Kindness is forever grateful to Ocean Palace for helping this and every year!
