Originally from Arlington, Minnesota, Matt grew up on a farm and built his career around a passion for high-performance animals, competition, and livestock genetics. Before entering the bucking bull industry, he was a successful sprint car racer and nationally recognized salesman, bringing that same competitive drive and attention to detail into the rodeo world.   Founded in 2007, Phenom Genetics has become known for producing elite bucking bulls with some of the strongest bloodlines in the industry, including the legendary Air Time, Magic Train, Bad Beagle and the 2025 PRCA Bull of the Year - Magic Touch. Matt has built the program around a commitment to quality over quantity, focusing heavily on genetics, nutrition, animal care, and selective breeding to consistently produce top-level athletes for the PRCA and PBR.   Today, Phenom Genetics partners with Sankey Pro Rodeo to haul bucking bulls to many of the biggest rodeos and professional bull riding events in the country, including the National Finals Rodeo and premier PBR events. We’re excited to announce another Border Valley Trading Athlete: Clayton Edsall Clayton Edsall is a National Reined Cow Horse Association Two Million Dollar Rider and owner of Edsall Performance Horses in Weatherford, Texas, alongside his wife Chelsea. Originally from Montana, Clayton developed a passion for horsemanship at a young age and left the ranch at 17 to further his education in horse training. Throughout his career, he studied and worked alongside renowned horsemen including Joe Wolter, Brian Neubert, Tink Elordi, Ray Hunt, and Tom Dorrance. Clayton earned some of the cow horse industry’s most prestigious titles, including the World’s Greatest Horseman, NRCHA Stallion Stakes, NRCHA Derby, and NRCHA Hackamore Classic.
