Hey Toronto! Come swing by Bootsy's Palace for this acoustic set, fundraising to support peasant organizers in the Philippines!
We're super excited to have performances from Parallel Play, June Hawthorne & Toast! 💖
Canada-Philippine Solidarity Organization is an organization of non-Filipinos in support of the National Democratic movement ✊ in the Philippines 🇵🇭. We are fundraising to help cover the cost of a peasant leader and organizer who will be doing a cross-canada speaking tour.
In the Philippines at least 3/4 of the population are peasants and farmers 🧑🌾 who do not own the land they live and work on. As economic conditions worsen (due to imperialist influence and government corruption), peasants and farmers in the country side are being taken advantage of and exploited by big corporations and landlords 🧛. You can learn more and contribute to the peasant struggle in the Philippines by attending this event!

April 13 at @bootsys____ // Sara May @analoguesofmay trio // Jordan from @westelaken.band solo set // John from Connecticut based @theknifekickers on solo tour // $10 PWYC // doors at 7:30
Intimate gig at Bootsy’s palace- DM for address. John from @theknifekickers is coming through on his massive solo tour. I’ve been lucky to see him play with a band and as a solo act and I can’t wait to share this bill with him. His playing is mesmerizing & his songs are moving. When he asked if I could help put something together in Toronto, I thought it would be a great opportunity to put myself in @analoguesofmay Sara May’s audience again, whose songs unfurl with uncanny elegance and whose performances I’ve been grateful for but have been too rare in this city in my opinion. It’s gonna be a sweet night and I can’t wait to see these two musicians do their thing.

I am releasing a new album/zine this Friday, Feb 20th at Bootsy’s. The album release show will start at 10:00pm sharp, immediately after the cafe.
.
The album is a sonic archive of the last 9 years of playing music outside!
.
The recordings feature birds, people interrupting, motorcycle engines, friends chatting and myself playing music. The zine describes the context for each recording so you can follow along in the zine while listening. I also have a lot of opinions about playing music outside, so the zine turned into a bit of a manifesto.
.
The title of the album/zine is “A Red Ant Bit My Butt and Now My Butt Hurts”
